The majority of the public gatherings worldwide this year have been cancelled indefinitely to help limit the spread of Covid-19. Locally, the Restricted Movement Order (RMO) has non-essential businesses working from home. During these difficult times, social distancing should be practiced everywhere, even when you need to head out for household provisions during RMO and after 15 April when the RMO is lifted. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that you stay at least three feet (1 meter) away from other people to reduce your chances of catching the virus.
Always remember to adhere to proper hygiene practices by:
- Increasing frequent hand washing with soap and water.
- Regularly disinfecting frequently touched surfaces.
- Increase ventilation by opening windows.
- Promote cough and sneeze etiquette with a tissue.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health (MOH) in Malaysia through Infosihat, has published social distancing tips at home and at the workplace. As we all work together to combat this pandemic, Carsome plays its part by continuously reminding and encouraging its staff to practice these recommendations.
Social distancing at home
Households with ill members should:
- Designate a room with a single caretaker for the ill person.
- The door to the ill person’s room must be kept closed at all times.
- Masks must be worn by both the ill and other family members caring for them.
- Take additional and protective measures for other members in the house over 65 or with an underlying illness.
Social distancing at work from 15th April onwards:
When it comes to practices at the workplace, MOH recommends:
- A no handshake policy. Avoid physical greetings and opt for a wave, nod or bow.
- Promote cough and sneeze etiquette with a tissue.
- Have hand sanitizers at the office’s entrances and other public areas.
- Schedule reminders for regular washing of hands or hand sanitization.
- Have virtual meetings instead of physical ones.
- Recommend ill workers to stay at home and seek immediate medical attention.
- Disinfect common areas regularly touched by staff.
- Consider opening windows.
- Limit food handling and sharing of food at the workplace.
- Assess business travel risks.
- Enhance hygiene and ailment screening among food handlers and close contacts.
- Work from home whenever possible, and stagger staff if productivity from remote work can be compensated.
We wish all our customers to stay safe and healthy, practice good hygiene, mask up, wash your hands and sanitize regularly. Be supportive. Be careful. Be alert. Be kind.
