January 2020 sees the ushering of the Chinese New Year with exciting promotions, special rebates, and new car launches. Buyers will be able to save cash on deals depending on the brands and models.

 

BMW and Mini ushers in Chinese New Year with offers and rebates

Those looking to get a BMW will be able to look forward to attractive financing interest of 1.38% for several models in their line-up including the all-new BMW 330i M Sport and the X3 variants among others. Furthermore, new owners of the 330i M Sport will also receive a one-year complimentary BMW Ultimate Protection Programme, an insurance plan that covers both the owner and the vehicle.

 

As for Mini, new owners will get to enjoy monthly instalments from RM2,388 monthly and cash rebates between RM8,000 to RM22,000 on selected Mini models. Additionally, the first 20 owners who purchased the Mini Cooper 3 and 5-door during the campaign period will receive an exclusive invite to a Mini Track Driving Experience. All the offers above and more are applicable for both BMW and Mini from now until 31st March 2020.

 

Change two Goodyear tires and stand a chance to win petrol gift cards

From now until 29 February 2020, customers who purchase two tires that are part of Goodyear’s Worry Free Assurance (WFA) program can stand a chance to win petrol gift cards worth up to RM1,688. The WFA program advocates tire health and road safety by offering free replacement tires within six months. Goodyear will replace the tires if there is damage from punctures, cuts, bulges and other impacts throughout normal driving. Under the program, Goodyear also provides a five-year limited warranty on tires from any manufacturing defects.

 

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is the top luxury brand for 2019

In 2019, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia sold 10,020 cars to capture 1.8% of the market share in the country. On top of the latest figures, the brand also managed a record-breaking after-sales service for 165,299 vehicles, an 11% increase over 148,800 units in 2018. Key launches for 2019 included the introduction of the E 350 AMG line, E 200 Sportstyle, A-Class sedan with the A200 and A250, the Mercedes-AMG A35, Mercedes-AMG GT R and GT C and much more.

 

In a milestone for Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, it reached the 100,000th vehicle roll out for its local production plant in Pekan, which assembles 13 variants from 5 model lines. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also finances 5 out of every 10 Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold in 2019 for a servicing portfolio of RM2.6 billion.

 

New Proton 3S outlet in Tawau, Sabah

Fook Loi Corporation (Sabah) has opened its latest Proton 3S center in Tawau, Sabah. It is the fourth Proton outlet by the company in Sabah – the rest are in Kota Kinabalu, Lahad Datu and Sandakan. The newly launched outlet boasts up to five cars on display in its showroom, while the service and spare parts area consist of 10 bays and 4 service hoists as well as amenities such as kid’s corner, coffee bar, and free Wifi. To date, Proton has a total of 120 outlets of 3S and 4S centers nationwide.

 

No more Touch ‘n Go top-up charges at 27 Shell stations

Shell Malaysia has announced that 27 of its petrol stations along the North-South Expressway will waive the RM0.50 Touch ‘n Go top-up fee. Shairan Husain, managing director of Shell Malaysia Trading, said: “Shell understands the challenge Malaysians face against the rising cost of living. Hopefully, forgoing the Touch ‘n Go top-up charges at all stations along NSE, as a start, will give our customers one less worry when traveling or fueling up at Shell.” Click here to visit the list of participating Shell stations.

 

Sime Darby Motors wins multiple awards at 18th Malaysia Cars of the Year 2019

Three models from separate marques under the Sime Darby Motors umbrella were among the winners at the recent 18th Malaysia Cars of the Year 2019 awards. The event featured 125 vehicles shortlisted into 19 best-in-class categories, with the winners selected by an independent panel of judges from various industries including automotive experts, motoring editors and motoring enthusiasts.

 

The Ford Ranger 2.0L XLT 10 Speed Auto won the ‘Pick Up Truck Twin Cab Car of the Year’ category, while the Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2L Diesel bagged the ‘Midsize Crossover & SUVs 7-seater Car of the Year’ title. Porsche’s Macan took the ‘Premium Midsize SUVs Car of the Year’ award.

 

Volkswagen Malaysia launches new Passat Elegance

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) has introduced the new Passat Elegance 2.0TSi that features a redesign of the exterior and interior, improved connectivity and updated lighting signatures. its all-LED headlight system at the front combines with a new three-winged taillight signature to produce dynamic turn signals.

 

The interior sports newly-designed door trims, 30-colour ambient lighting, a new leather multi-function steering wheel, an 11.7-inch digital cockpit and a 9.2-inch infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay. The powertrain is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that outputs 187 hp and 320 Nm of torque, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The new Passat Elegance is priced at RM187,990 on-the-road without insurance.
