The Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic Sedan is your entry point to AMG Performance

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the AMG A35 4Matic sedan, expanding the brand’s AMG range in Malaysia with a new entry-level model. We think this is the most interesting AMG in recent times. Why? Read on to find out.

It’s The New Entry-Level AMG

The previous generation AMG’s entry point was the A45 hatchback. This time the brand has gone all out to diversify the current line-up to now include an A35 in both hatchback and sedan bodystyles, as well as an A45 and A45 S with 382 hp and 416 hp respectively. Power for the A35 isn’t paltry either, with 306 hp. The most impressive part? All this power is squeezed from a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder unit.

It Is In The Numbers

Compared to the hatchback, the A35 sedan is 130mm longer but retains the same 2,729 mm wheelbase. Numbers wise, the 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine delivers 306 hp at 5,800 rpm with 400 Nm of torque from 3,000 to 4,000 rpm. Paired to a 7-speed DCT Speedshift dual clutch transmission, the A35 takes 4.8-seconds to reach the 100 km/h mark from a standstill. Drive goes to the 4Matic all-wheel drive system.

Agile and Stable

The variable AMG Performance 4Matic combines the best possible traction with lots of driving fun. The torque distribution is infinitely variable to suit the dynamic handling requirements. The spectrum ranges from front-wheel drive only to a 50:50 percent distribution to the front and rear axles. Furthermore the AMG ride control suspension features an adaptive adjustable damping system, which allows the driver to switch between three different suspension configurations. The spectrum ranges from comfort-focused to sporty. The system operates fully automatically, adapting the damping forces for each wheel according to the driving situation and road conditions.

It Has Sporty AMG Looks

Distinguishing AMG design features like the radiator grille with twin louvres, AMG Line front apron with flics n the air intakes, front splitter and silver chrome trim elements on the outside makes the eyes race. Paired on with 19-inch AMG 5-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels and the diffuser insert on the rear end provide a sense of width.

Inside the A35 works on the already impressive A-Class interior. Of course, the dual 10.25-inch widescreen cockpit displays take on the digital end. The steering wheel is an AMG Performance wrapped in Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre, while the seats are wrapped in Artico leather with Dinamico microfibre.

Feature wise, there’s quite a bit to go around. As standard keyless entry is present, cruise control, wireless charging, heads-up display (a first for an entry level AMG), Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility and the 64-colour ambient lighting.

Safety Comes First

The list here includes Active brake assist, Active lane keeping assist, Active parking assist with Parktronic, Blind spot assist, Reverse camera, Tyre pressure monitoring system, Pre-Safe, and of course 7-Airbags.

Ownership and Financing

The price for the AMG A35 4Matic sedan is RM 348,888 on the road without insurance. For a limited time, Plan A+ financing contract comes with two complimentary comprehensive service package. It comes with lower monthly instalments, guaranteed future value of the car, flexible end of agreement options, and a wide range of insurance products plus meticulous service packages that are conducted by trained and experienced technicians using genuine spare parts.
