What was speculated to be the Proton S50 sedan was officially unveiled by Proton as the S70 on 1 November 2023. Proton outlets are even already accepting customer bookings for the car with a RM500 booking fee. So what are the specifications and trim levels available on the Proton S70? New Proton S70 Sedan Variants & Details
Proton has confirmed four variants of the Proton S70 C-segment sedan. There are the following:
- Proton S70 1.5T Flagship X
- Proton S70 1.5T Flagship
- Proton S70 1.5T Premium; and
- Proton S70 1.5T Executive
The S70 is based on the Geely Emgrand, and while the Geely uses a 1.5 L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine with a CVT (continuously variable transmission), the S70 uses a turbocharged 1.5 L 3-cylinder engine like in the Proton X50, X70, and X90 with a 7-speed DCT (dual-clutch transmission).
However, the S70 will only get the port-injected 1.5T instead of the 1.5TGDi direct-injection engine found in the other models. This engine produces 150 PS and 226 Nm, which should be plenty for a sedan this size.

Proton S70 1.5T Executive
The 1.5T Executive is the base variant of the S70. Features on this variant include 16-inch alloy rims, halogen headlamps, five USB ports and four speakers, a 3.25-inch monochrome meter display, and an 8-inch integrated Linux-based head unit. Like all previous Proton models built with the Geely partnership, the infotainment system will not have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The 1.5T Premium is a step up from the Executive and adds features like auto air conditioning with rear vents, a rear tail lamp bar, auto headlamps, and a leatherette interior. It also adds additional safety features like a reverse camera along with front and rear parking sensors.
Proton S70 1.5T Flagship & Flagship X
The 1.5T Flagship variant adds 17-inch alloy rims, an inductive trunk that will open when you swipe your foot under the rear bumper, a powered driver seat, 10.25-inch TFT infotainment display with a 1,920 x 720 screen resolution, voice command, and a wireless charger.
Safety Features
Safety-wise, it adds a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and Level 2 ADAS. This ADAS includes features found on the Proton X90 except emergency lane keep assist (ELKA) and auto park assist (APA):
- Lane departure warning (LDW)
- Lane departure prevention (LDP)
- Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
- Intelligent cruise control (ICC)
- Traffic sign information (TSI)
- Intelligent high beam control (IHBC)
Lastly, the 1.5T Flagship X variant includes all the features found on the 1.5T Flagship, with the addition of a sunroof.
