Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sets Another Record For 2018!

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is celebrating its fifth consecutive record year, having sold 13,079 cars for 2018 which translates to 9 per cent overall growth and a 2.4 per cent market share. To put this into perspective, MBM for 2018 has almost achieved two-fold of what they’ve done for the whole of 2014 at 6,932 vehicles.

Of these numbers, the brand has had a string of all-time highs last year, these include the best ever Q1 and Q3 with 3,335 and 3,353 vehicles sold respectively, a record month in June with 1,750 vehicles sold, and produced a total of 9,854 vehicles. Itemised, MBM sold a record 7,910 of its locally produced limousines, 2,613 SUVs with the locally produced GLC 200 and 250 leading the bulk, 1,875 compact cars and 662 dream cars.

“We are extremely proud of our history-making performance for 2018. We delivered 13,079 Mercedes-Benz Cars to customers, further cementing our position as the leading premium brand in Malaysia. Our fresh-faced product portfolio with the locally assembled Mercedes-AMG C43 and GLC43, and all-new Mercedes-Benz A-Class has succeeded in keeping our fans excited about the brand. Furthermore, we gave the market a taste of the future with the EQ Concept this year. We intend to keep the momentum going with more exciting events and products in 2019,” VP of Sales and Marketing at MBM, Mark Raine said.

Last year saw 20 vehicle launches including the locally assembled AMG C43, GLC43, AMG E53 Sedan and AMG E53 Coupé, the new dream cars collection, S-Class family including the Mercedes-Maybach, all-new A-Class and facelift C-Class.

Of course launches weren’t the only highlight for them. Activities that engaged with their customers and fans included Urban Hunting x ULTRA Singapore 2018, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in KL, the MercedesTrophy and the introduction of the AMG Owners Club Malaysia (AOCM) for exclusive access for all things AMG.

Increasing touchpoints were a total of five Autohaus which included NZ Wheels Klang, Hap Seng Star Setia Alam, and Asbenz Stern Kuantan among others, as well as the Premium Certified pre-owned centres like the one by Hap Seng Kinrara.

In terms of aftersales, MBM also made history with a double digit growth of 148,800 cars serviced or a 16 per cent increase compared to 2017. Will Mercedes-Benz be able to set another record for 2019?
