Arrive In Style With The 2018 Maserati Ghibli

The 2018 Maserati Ghibli is now available in Malaysia through Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor for Maserati. For this new facelift model, two distinctive trims are included to bring out the luxurious elegance and race-bred performance unique to Maserati – GranLusso and GranSport. The 2018 Ghibli also comes with subtle restyling and a rich array of hi-tech features.

Just a little background, the Ghibli first made its debut back at the 2017 Frankfurt Motorshow. It shares its core architecture – chassis, suspension layout, V6 engines and eight-speed ZF automatic transmission with the flagship Maserati Quattroporte, but is 293 mm shorter and 50 kg lighter.

The GranLusso and GranSport trims are both available on either the Ghibli or Ghibli S.

To give each trim a clear identity, the Design Centre in Turin restyled the front and rear bumpers. This has provided better aerodynamic efficiency, with an improved 7 per cent, reducing the drag coefficient to 0.29 from 0.31 in 2017.

All petrol versions of the Ghibli feature the acclaimed Twin Turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine, mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. The top-range Ghibli S version now delivers 430 hp and 580 Nm peak torque, which is 20 hp and 30 Nm more than the 2017 car. With this increased power output, it gives the Maserati sports sedan a top speed of 286 km/h and much better acceleration. The new Ghibli S accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9-seconds.

The introduction of Electric Power Steering (EPS) is another first for Maserati as it improves the car’s handling and comfort, supports the different driving modes and also enables the newly introduced active functions of the Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS), while retaining the classically Maserati razor-sharp steering feel. An additional available option, it joins functions like Highway Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.

In terms of external looks, the GranSport features Adaptive full LED headlights and is also recognisable for the Black Plano inserts on the front bumper, the GranSport badge on the front wing, body-colour side skirts, blue inserts on all Trident and Saetta logos, red brake callipers and the 21” Titano Anthracite alloy wheels.

The interior of the GranSport also comes standard with gearshift paddles and Inox sport foot pedals. This can be further customized with an Exterior Carbon Package for a more emphatic message about Ghibli’s racing heritage. It covers the external door mirrors, B- and C-pillar covers and door handles on the base trim, as well as front splitter and rear spoiler on the GranSport.

As for the pricing, the Ghibli starts from RM 618,800 (inclusive of local taxes and duties) for the standard model, the GranLusso and the GranSport are both priced at RM 668,800. The Ghibli S is priced at RM 718,800, while the GranLusso and the GranSport versions start at RM 768,800. All the Maserati Ghibli models come with a five-year, unlimited mileage standard warranty coverage along with a free five-year/100,000 km maintenance programme (inclusive of a three-year/ 60,000 km Maserati Premium Service Plus package).
