BMW Shorties 2019 theme is ‘Uncharted’

BMW Shorties returns for its 13th year in 2019 with the theme ‘Uncharted’; the grand discovery and the celebration of pursuit, it also symbolises the perfect combination of curiosity and tenacity. This year’s line-up of judges includes award-winning filmmakers and veterans in the local film industry. They are Saw Teong Hin, Indrani Kopal, Amanda Nell Eu, Nadira Ilana and Adrian Teh. As customary, the grand prize winner will get a production grant of RM 80,000, with filmmaking talent awarded in various categories including Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design and Best Student Award, this year’s new category. Entries are already open and budding filmmakers will have up to 11th October 2019 to submit your entries here.

 

Pump Caltex and stand a chance to win a Volvo XC40

Free maintenance and rewards for new Ford Ranger owners

From now until 30th September 2019, customers who purchase either the Ford Ranger Wildtrak or Ranger Raptor will enjoy free maintenance for two years and get a Petronas Gift Card worth RM 1,000. The sales promotion is in conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations. Both variants as with the rest of the Ranger line-up, comes with a full manufacturers warranty of three years or up to 100,000 km whichever comes first.

 

Goodyear Malaysia appoints new Managing Director

The brand has announced the appointment of Alex Ng as Managing Director for Malaysia. He replaces Ben Hoge who after a successful 3-year assignment will be moving to a senior role within Goodyear’s European, Middle East and Africa organisation. As for Alex, he first joined Goodyear in 2008 as General Manager in Singapore. Several promotions later brought him to assume his current business portfolio as Market Director, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Philippines and Export Markets.

 

Mazda’s MX-5 RF has been updated for 2019

Mazda’s incredible MX-5 RF has received enhancements both inside and out. In terms of power, the latest update ups power by 17%, resulting in 181 hp at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. External upgrades are new 17-inch black metallic wheels and a new telescopic steering wheel. Infotainment updates is the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as standard on the Mazda Connect unit. Prices start from RM 259,154 for the manual transmission and RM 260,354 for the automatic. There’s a 5-year manufacturer warranty with 5-years free maintenance or up to 100,000 km whichever comes first.

 

Mini 60 Years Edition hatch is available in 60 limited units

Mini Malaysia has introduced an exclusive 60 Years Edition Cooper 3-door hatch. Limited to only 60 units in Malaysia, the unit features anniversary specific Bonnet Stripes, Logo Projection, Door Sill, Walknappa Leather Steering Wheel, Leather Lounge in Dark Maroon, Interior Surface and exclusive 17-inch light alloy wheels in the version 60 Years Spoke 2-tone.

 

Two shades are exclusively available, with the New British Racing Green with Pepper White roof and mirror caps or Melting Silver with Jet Black roof and mirror caps. Signature black bonnet stripes with Aspen White and British Oak pinstripes underline the exclusivity.

 

Power comes from the 2.0-litre TwinPower Turbo engine outputting 192 hp and 280 Nm mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission. The Mini 60 Years Edition retails for RM 255,888.

 

New Mitsubishi Motors 3S centre opens in Sitiawan Perak

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia together with dealer Lofty Ambition Sdn Bhd has opened a new 3S centre in Sitiawan, Perak. This is the dealer’s third Mitsubishi showroom in the state, after Ipoh and Taiping. Located in No. 1, Jalan Medan Serdang 1, Medan Serdang, the 3S houses a customer lounge and a fully equipped workshop with advanced diagnostic tools and Special Set Tools.

 

Naza Group Merdeka deals until end-Sept 2019

2019 Perodua Axia now open for booking

Perodua has opened orders for the latest facelift Axia. There will be six variants available – E, G, GXtra, SE, AV and a new Style variant will be priced from an estimated RM 24,090 to RM 43,190 on the road before insurance. The most interesting about the latest Axia is the inclusion of ASA 2.0 that includes Pedestrian Detection of up to 50 km/h, Pre-Collision Warning up to 100 km/h, Pre-Collision Braking up to 80 km/h, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control. All variants from GXtra and above are equipped with VSC and traction control, and all variants except the base E has ABS with EBD as standard.

 

Proton flagship 4S centre opens in Kota Kinabalu

Fook Loi Corp Sabah has officially opened the first Proton flagship 4S centre in Kota Kinabalu. The opening was officiated by Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Hj Mohd Shafie Apdal with Dr Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton, Directors of Fook Loi and Senior Management members of Proton. Thomas Chiu, Group Executive Director of Fook Loi said that deciding to become a Proton dealer wasn’t difficult as they see the potential for the brand in Sabah. Toyota launches Eco Youth Program 2019

The program’s goal is to educate students on environment preservation and to train them as ambassadors to advocate environment protection in the quest for better quality of life. This year’s theme “Be the Superhero to Save the World” will incorporate ideas in line with the rapid changes in the digital world and propels the need to take impactful leadership in environment protection. The program is open to all schools in Malaysia including private and International institutions. Twelve schools were selected based on video submissions on environmental preservation.  The students from these schools will undergo 3 days of workshop sessions, learning the techniques of Toyota Problem Solving Methodology, which is world renown. The program aims to instil life skill to students that would be valuable and beneficial throughout their life.

 

Toyota Hilux, Fortuner and Innova gets updated enhancements

For the Toyota Hilux range, a new Hilux 2.8 Black Edition replaces the Hilux 2.8 L-Edition. This new Black Edition has a bolder appearance with an exterior colour theme of black and dark grey. It also gets a new infotainment system with 6.75-inch display for a clearer view and easier operation. With Android Auto and Apple CarPlay available as standard, seamless connectivity is possible for all current smartphones.

 

As for the Fortuner 2.7 SRZ and 2.4 VRZ, it also now comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay available as standard, with a large 9-inch infotainment display. The Fortuner 2.4 variant now has 7 airbags. The price of Fortuner 2.7 SRZ Auto and 2.4 VRZ Auto remains the same, however, the 2.4 Auto is now priced at RM 171,500.

 

The same 9-inch infotainment unit is also in the Innova 2.0X and 2.0G variants. Owners will have the option to install Blind Spot Monitor system (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert system (RCTA). For more information on these cars, visit Toyota.com.my.

 

Pekin Auto is Volvo Car Malaysia’s dealer in Johor Bahru

The new 3S Centre located near Skudai, will adhere to Volvo Cars’ latest Volvo Retail Experience requirement – a standard that delivers a holistic brand experience for customers at any of Volvo Cars’ authorised locations. Volvo Car Malaysia is aggressively implementing the next phase of its transformation plan with a premier focus set on ‘customer experience’ and dealer network; internal polls are already showing positive results thanks to improvements made in these two key areas. This latest addition to the Volvo Car Malaysia dealer network, brings the nationwide total of dealers to 13 with more locations expected in the coming months. VW Malaysia appoints new Co-Managing Director

VPCM has appointed Kurt Leitner as its Managing Director, joining Erik Winter, the brand’s other MD locally. Leitner will have a dual-role as MD in Malaysia and Singapore. Having been with the Porsche Holding Salzburg group since 1988, Leitner has held various management positions within the network, including Managing Director at Porsche Romania for four years, General Manager at Porsche Chile and PGA Ellada, as well as CEO of Porsche Finance Group Romania. He will focus on human resources, information technology and finance while Winter will continue to helm VPCM’s sales, aftersales, dealer network and marketing operations.

 

VW introduces Walnut Blasting Decarboniser for engines

VPCM has introduced the new aftersales service that uses walnut shells to gently remove carbon build-up in the engine for a cleaner and smoother drive. Recognized and approved by Volkswagen AG, this method is economical, efficient and non-corrosive, without the use of harmful chemicals. Volkswagen owners are advised to decarbonize their engines every 45,000km as a preventive measure and can seek further assistance from all authorized dealerships. The brand is also having ongoing aftersales promos on shock absorbers, tyres and batteries.
