Audi Malaysia has introduced the brand’s latest generation sedans in the market.
Audi A6 (C8)
The latest eighth generation A6 has arrived with upgrades in technology, comfort and sportiness. Underneath the hood lies a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine together with a mild hybrid. The belt alternator starter works together with a lithium-ion battery to provide coasting between 55 and 160 km/h. Output is 340 hp with 500 Nm of torque from 1,370 to 4,500 rpm and is mated to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Drive goes to the brand’s quattro all-wheel drive system. Century sprint from a standstill takes 5.1-seconds.
The cabin is something to behold. The futuristic design expresses the digital character of the A6. The MMI touch response system is customisable and intuitive, allowing central vehicle functions to be moved around similar to that of a smartphone. As standard for the Malaysian market, the A6 comes with the MMI navigation plus that offers a host of new navigation features including self-learning function based on driven routes.
When it comes to dimensions, the latest A6 is larger than the outgoing model, increases legroom in the rear as well as improved head and shoulder room in the entire cabin. In terms of luggage, there’s a good 530-litres enough for two golf bags horizontally.
Manoeuvrability is now better than before and is noticeably sportier than the previous gen. The dynamic all-wheel steering combines direct and sporty steering response with impressive stability. The spindle drive in the rear axle turns the wheels as much as 5-degrees. At low speed, the rear wheels steer the opposite direction to the front for enhanced agility while at high speed, they turn in the same direction.
The Audi A6 sport 3.0 TFSI quattro retails for RM 589,900 on the road without insurance.
Audi A7 Sportback (C8)
The second generation A7 follows on Audi’s latest design language with dynamic fastback lines, sharp edges and the ever-unique athleticism. As customary to all the brand’s top models, the flat light strip at the rear joins the rear lights which are made up of 13 vertical segments and has fast moving light animations. The exterior for the local offering comes standard with the S line package.
As for performance, the A7’s figures are identical to that of the new A6. The 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine comes together with a mild hybrid. The belt alternator starter works with a lithium-ion battery to provide coasting between 55 and 160 km/h. Output is 340 hp with 500 Nm of torque from 1,370 to 4,500 rpm and is mated to a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. Drive goes to the brand’s quattro all-wheel drive system. Century sprint from a standstill takes 5.3-seconds just 0.2-seconds more than the A6.
The interior is in-line with the other cars, and according to Audi has four key values that characterise the layout – sportiness, intuitiveness and sophistication. The horizontal lines and sleek instrument panel provide for a feeling of airy spaciousness. The center console is oriented toward the driver while the upholstery materials and inlays underscore the new aesthetic, with the particularly sophisticated Valcona leather. The 10.1-inch upper display in combination with MMI navigation plus is tilted toward the driver. With its black panel optics and framed in a graphite grey aluminium clasp, it almost disappears into the dashboard when switched off. Features include driver aids like a head-up display while the sound system is the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 3D sound.
As for the drive, the A7 also comes with dynamic-all-wheel steering that provides agility and manoeuvrability in both low and high speeds.
