About You

We are looking for data driven and enthusiastic candidate to join us to drive our business forward! With data as your arsenal, you will be looking at strategies, process improvement and governance to improve overall performance of the company. Working closely with other internal departments, you will learn the operation and support their projects by providing data, analysis, and insights. The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail, meticulous with numbers, creative in problem solving with an open mind to changes and interaction. Most important of all, a strong can-do spirit!

The role is based in Malaysia, covering businesses located in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia

Your Day-to-Day

You will be part of the Data Science and Advanced Analytics team, with the following responsibilities:

  • Initiate and lead cross-functional projects, with the goals of optimising customer conversion funnel, enhancing M&A ecosystem synergy and competitor benchmarking
  • Proactively deliver actionable insights via exploratory analysis and effective visualisations, provide recommendations and engage with stakeholders across Commercial, Marketing and Tech to achieve strategic business objectives
  • Understand business processes and pain points deeply, identify viable data driven solutions, leveraging on advanced analytics techniques where applicable, including machine learning and statistical methods
  • Propose the methodology and drive business analysis to validate hypothesis and support decision making, ensuring confidence via statistical significance from proper A/B test setups whenever feasible
  • Actively evaluate existing processes and explore new tools for improvement, standardisation and best practices to promote data democratisation and efficiency
  • Develop project plans as well as roadmap for the domain of ownership
  • Oversee junior members to ensure project delivery quality and guide their development into solid independent contributors

Who are we looking for?

  • Innately curious, highly analytical and enjoy distilling complex business questions into technical requirements and find answers in the data
  • At least 4 years of experience in one or multiple of the following areas: business insights, data visualisation, predictive modelling, business intelligence
  • Degree from top university in a relevant quantitative discipline, such as applied statistics, computer science, mathematics, data science or analytics, operations research
  • Comfortable using SQL/ Google BigQuery for data munging, exploration, and analysis
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills to effectively present findings to senior management using data visualisation tools like Tableau or Power BI
  • Hands-on exposure to product analytics platforms, such as Amplitude or Mixpanel
  • Self-starter with a track record of initiating projects and driving them to completion
  • Experience in leading cross-functional projects or coaching small teams

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the automotive or e-commerce industry
  • Experience working at a tech startup or fast-growing organisation
  • Experience using R or Python for data analysis and modelling
  • Deep understanding of machine learning and statistical methods, and how to apply them
  • Familiarity with principles of business intelligence and data engineering infrastructure
