Perodua & Ativa Edit
The Perodua Ativa is a compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) with several new technologies from Perodua. It’s the first Perodua to have a turbocharged engine and Direct-Shift Continuously Variable Transmission (D-CVT). It also boasts a long list of safety features making it an attractive option as a family car.
Perodua Ativa Variants
The Perodua Ativa SUV is available in six variants; the Ativa 1.0 Turbo X (Metallic), H (Metallic), H (Special Metallic), AV (Metallic), AV (Special Metallic), and AV (2-Tone Special). All variants share the same 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine.
Perodua Ativa Pricing
The price of a new Perodua Ativa starts from RM61,500 for the X (Metallic), RM66,100 for the H (Metallic), RM66,000 for the H (Special Metallic), RM71,200 for the AV (Metallic), RM71,700 for the AV (Special Metallic), and RM 72,000 for the AV (2-Tone Special).
There are five colors available on the Perodua Ativa; Garnet Red, Pearl Diamond White, Cobalt Blue, Granite Grey, and Glittering Silver. The AV (2-Tone Special) variant is only available in a two-tone paint job with Garnet Red or Pearl Diamond White for the body and black for the roof.
The Ativa has a comfortable interior with many shared features across the range. The main differences are in the multi-info display and seat materials. The X gets a standard LCD multi-info display while the H and AV variants get a 7-inch TFT display. Also, all X and H variants have fabric seats while AV variants have leather seats with red and black piping. Standard features include an open tray with illumination and a side pocket below the center console, built-in cup holders below the side air conditioning vents, and manual air conditioning.
Standard exterior features on the Perodua Ativa SUV are driver’s side door handle with electrostatic sensor, LED headlights with follow-me-home function, LED tail and brake lights, a two-tone rear spoiler, and wheel arch molding on the front and rear. Only available on the H and AV variants are auto-retractable side mirrors, LED front fog lights, as well as auto on/off headlights with auto-leveling and sequential side turn signals.
Despite being a compact SUV, the Perodua Ativa has a spacious interior. It measures 4,065 mm long, 1,710 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall. Its boot has an adjustable two-level floor that can fit 303-liters in tier-1 mode and 369-liters in tier-2 mode (when the boot floor is lowered). This cargo space is further expandable with the foldable rear seats.
The X variant has an 11-inch display radio with Bluetooth and MP3 support, two USB ports in front, and four speakers. The H and AV variants, on the other hand, have a 9-inch LCD touch screen system with Bluetooth, MP3, Smartlink for Android, voice recognition, two USB ports in the front and rear, as well as one HDMI port. The H variants have four speakers while the AV variants have six speakers.
The Ativa SUV has a 1.0L turbo engine mated to a D-CVT. It produces a max power of 97 PS at 6,000 rpm and a max torque of 140 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Its small, fuel-efficient engine coupled with Perodua’s Eco Idle function enables the Perodua Ativa to achieve a fuel economy of 5.3 L/100 km. It also accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.6 seconds which is impressive considering that it’s an SUV with a 1.0L engine.
Despite its affordable price, the Perodua Ativa SUV has excellent safety features across all variants. Included as standard are six airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), Hill Hold Assist, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and Perodua Smart Drive Assist.
Perodua Smart Drive Assist
The Perodua Smart Drive Assist is a suite of driver-assist technologies. It includes Advanced Safety Assist (A.S.A), Driving Assist, Parking Assist, and Headlamp Assist technologies. All features in A.S.A and Driving Assist are standard on all variants while some Parking Assist and Headlamp Assist features are only available on certain variants.
A.S.A includes Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert, and Pedal Misoperation Control. Driving Assist is designed to help drivers stay safe on the road. It includes Lane departure warning (LDW), Lane departure prevention (LDP), Adaptive cruise control (ACC), Lane keep control (LKC), and Blind spot monitor (BSM).
Parking Assist & Headlamp Assist
While all variants have rear corner sensors as standard, front corner sensors and the reverse camera are only available on the H and AV variants. The AV variants also get an additional Parking Assist feature which is the Rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA). The Headlamp Assist suite contains Auto High Beam (AHB) and Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB). AHB is exclusive to only the X variant while ADB is exclusive to the H and AV variants.
The Ativa packs a lot of style, comfort, and safety features in a compact package. All these features coupled with its affordable price make the Perodua Ativa hard to beat as a value-for-money family SUV.
