The Mercedes-Benz GLC facelift SUV range is now in Malaysia

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched the latest facelift GLC SUV range in the market. The locally assembled SUVs will be available in variants of the GLC 200, GLC 300 4Matic and the GLC 300 4Matic Coupé.

Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 & GLC 300 4Matic

The facelift GLCs are now distinguishable from the redesigned LED headlamps that feature new Daytime Running Light graphics, a new contoured radiator grille at the front, as well as the redesigned LED taillamps with new trapezoidal graphics at the rear to bring together the brand’s latest design language.

Compared to the higher end GLC 300 variant, the GLC 200 comes with the off-road exterior package that adds a more rugged front bumper with a chrome skid plate, and higher set suspensions for an increased ground clearance of 20 mm.

The new GLCs now feature a new 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine. In the GLC 200, the power output is 194 hp and 320 Nm of torque from 1,300 to 4,000 rpm with a century sprint time of 7.8-seconds. However, on the GLC 300, power is boosted to 254 hp and 370 Nm of torque from 1,300 to 4,000 rpm and the acceleration time from a standstill is 6.2-seconds to 100 km/h. The range is mated to a nine-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, with power going to Mercedes’ 4Matic All-Wheel Drive system on the GLC 300, and to the rear-wheels on the GLC 200. There are a host of active and passive safety systems in the new GLCs which include 7-Airbags, Blind Spot Assist, Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, Pre-Safe, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System as well as Autonomous Emergency Braking (Active Brake Assist), and the Active Lane Keeping Assist (the latter most exclusively on the GLC 300).

The interior of the GLC 200 comes with the Exclusive Line trim – which decks the centre console and door panels with anthracite open-pore oak wood trim elements. This differs from the AMG Line interior of the GLC 300. Depending on the customer specified trim, the cabin will feature open-pore black ash wood or the light longitudinal-grain aluminium trim elements.

Both variants come with “Mercedes-Benz” illuminated script door sills, Artico leather upholstery, the brand’s latest steering wheel with touch controls, a 12.3-inch fully digital driver instrument cluster, the 10.25-inch Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) touchscreen infotainment unit which is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the touchpad controller in the centre console for user input. The technology featured in the GLCs are the latest, so USB sockets are the latest USB-C units.

For better audio, the GLC 300 does come with the brand’s higher end Burmester surround sound system.

Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic Coupé

The coupé bodystyle certainly provides a sportier appearance to this variant. Like the GLC 300, the Coupé also comes equipped with the AMG Line exterior with the Night Package. The finishing throughout the exterior is evidently more premium. From the diamond radiator grille at the front to the air intakes in the bumper and the streamlined LED tail lamps at the rear, the coupé is a head turner.

Mechanically, including the safety features, the GLC 300 Coupé is identical to the standard GLC 300. The differences here only lie in the suspension system. The Coupé comes with the firmer Sports suspension to match the characteristics of the vehicle.

On the inside, the AMG Line interior trim is like the GLC 300. However, it is matched to the light longitudinal-grain aluminium trim together with a more premium leather upholstery throughout the cabin. The Burmester sound system is also equipped in this variant.

The prices for the Mercedes-Benz facelift GLC range are on-the-road without insurance:

GLC 200 – RM 299,888

GLC 300 4Matic – RM 350,000 (estimated)

GLC 300 4Matic Coupé – RM 419,888

Ownership includes a four-year/unlimited mileage warranty.
