Lamborghini Kuala Lumpur has previewed the Huracán Evo in Sepang over the past weekend during the opening round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia 2019. The V10 super sports car is based on the Huracán Performante but with the brand’s next-generation vehicle dynamic control and aerodynamics.
Underneath the sleek exterior, the Evo features a 5.2-litre V10 engine that has been uprated to output 640 hp and 600 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. Power goes through the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission to the all-wheel drive system. Thanks to the dry weight of 1,422 kg, the Evo has a weight-to-power ratio of 2.22 kg/hp and is able to achieve the zero to hundred sprint in just 2.9-seconds and 200 km/h in 9.0-seconds. Stopping power is just as impressive from 100 km/h to a standstill in just 31.9-metres.
The new front bumper assures aerodynamic efficiency through the front splitter with integrated wing. The larger air intakes feature the Ypsilon shape that is characteristic of the brand’s design DNA. The underbody has also been shared to improve downforce and aerodynamics by more than five times over the first generation Hurácan.
Integrated Vehicle Dynamics
The Huracán Evo features Lamborghini’s rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring system on all wheels. But at the heart of it, is the Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Integrata (LDVI) that controls the dynamics of the car as well as anticipate the next move and needs of the driver.
Lamborghini Piattaforma Inerziale (LPI) is a group of sensors and accelerators that has been enhanced to version 2.0 and monitors real-time dynamics on lateral, longitudinal and vertical accelerations, as well as roll, pitch and yaw rate.
As for the Enhanced Lamborghini Dynamic Steering, it is now able to provide higher responsiveness in corners while requiring the lowest steering angles. Through the combination of all these systems that comes together with LDVI, the Evo recognises the driver’s intentions through the steering wheel, brake, accelerator, engaged gear and driving modes of Strada, Sport or Corsa.
As with the modes, Lamborghini says that in Strada, the Evo is agile and capable for driving enjoyment, in Sport it becomes playful, intuitive and extremely exciting and finally Corsa opens up sharp, reactive and exhilarating for the track.
Interior and Connectivity
On the inside, the Evo trim is a Alcantara and leather mix with Arancio Dryope (Orange) highlights to match the Arancio Xanto exterior colour seen in the preview unit. As for the infotainment unit, the 8.4-inch touchscreen on the centre console has connectivity options of smartphone integration as well as navigation and entertainment. Controls are multi-finger enabled and include seats, climate and the status of the LDVI system is also inside, as is Apple CarPlay support.
