The First-Ever BMW X2 Is Now In Malaysia

If you’ve followed BMW’s recent model numbering nomenclature, you’ll know that with a growing portfolio of new vehicles, the Bavarian brand has sought to designate the odd-numbered models: sedan-styled, and the even numbers for sportier coupe-styled models. Today, BMW Malaysia has officially introduced the first-ever BMW X2 – a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) that boldly styled. It’s Styled Differently

Different in the sense that although the new X2 joins the brand’s X4 and X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe, it is the only current BMW that’s unlike the two. The new compact SAC has a short overhang, coupe-style roofline and in dimensions, is shorter in length and height, but has a longer wheelbase than its X1 sibling.

One thing you might notice is that the famous BMW kidney grille is trapezoidal-shaped on the X2 and widens towards the bottom as opposed to the other way. Evident is also the BMW emblem on the C-pillars that pay homage to the 3200 CS or E9 coupe of yesteryear.

New Transmission

As the new X2 is built under the new UKL architecture shared for both the BMW and Mini brands for their front-wheel drive models, there’s a seven-speed Steptronic dual-clutch unit that is lighter, has faster shifts and is better at fuel economy. Power output for the X2 sDrive20i M Sport sold in Malaysia comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol of 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque from 1,350 to 4,600 rpm. Century sprint is 7.7-seconds.

Equipped To Entertain & Connect

Thanks to the M Sport package, you have the M Sport steering wheel greeting you, as well as a 8.8-inch touchscreen display that has BMW Connected packages for Intelligent Emergency call, Teleservices, Concierge Services, BMW Online and BMW Remote Services. Navigation Plus is also included, together with a Parking Assistant, Head-Up Display for drivers.

When the sun is down, the ambient lighting of orange, lilac, mint, bronze, blue and white provides a mood to express the bold exterior of the X2.

Colours & Price

Seen here is Galvanic Gold, the X2’s signature colour, together with Misano Blue, and Sunset Orange paired to a black Dakota leather trim, while Black Sapphire is one that’s paired with Magma Red Dakota leather. The X2 sDrive20i M Sport is priced at RM 320,800.
