The all-new Peugeot 5008 SUV has been launched by local Peugeot distributor Nasim Sdn Bhd, in Malaysia. The new 5008 SUV has been modernized and makes a smooth transition from its MPV predecessor, into being this all-new larger, more expressive 7-seater C-segment SUV.
The 5008 SUV measures in at 4,641 mm long and 1,844 mm wide and 1,640 mm tall. The front-end design is expressive, with the Lion’s brand marque bringing out the assertive personality and brand identity. The vehicle’s Advanced Full LED headlamps with sequential scrolling indicators provide enough character in both day and night. The chrome inserts on the front wings that extend to the headlights is in striking resemblance to Peugeot’s concept car – the HX1.
Onto the performance, the 5008 SUV is equipped with a 1.6 Turbo THP engine with 165 hp at 6,000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1,400 rpm. It has a 0-100 km/h time of 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 206 km/h. Paired with an Aisin six-speed automatic transmission, the 5008 SUV boasts fuel efficiency levels of 7.3 litres per 100 km and carbon emissions as low as 133 g/km.
On the rear-end, the raised body line and chromed roof arc trim finishes elegantly at the quarter panel, giving off a more aerodynamic design profile to the car. Also, an extra-wide tailgate and low boot sill also hints at the amount of space the boot has. The new Peugeot 5008 is also fitted with 18-inch alloy Los Angeles wheels with two-tone diamond finish, and stainless-steel roof to top it off.
Inside, the almost futuristic-looking Peugeot i-Cockpit® puts the driver at centre stage and offers a high-end driving experience that both surprises and delights. The new Peugeot 5008 has it all, to name it: a redesigned compact steering wheel, an 8-inch Multifunction Colour touchscreen and a 12.3-inch Digital Head-Up Cluster Display that shows the speedometer, odometer, trip-computer. The dashboard is embroidered with central satin chrome ‘Toggle Switches’ for quick access to the main passenger comfort and safety functions like audio, assistance settings, apps and hazard warning lights.
Passenger comfort is improved with seven premium leather seats for everyone on-board and offers five different angles of inclination on the second row. This row features three-point ISOFIX anchor points and reconfigurations options at the passenger and loading compartments to optimise knee room. More impressively, the third row of two extra seats, can be folded down flat into the floor to save space. Peugeot engineers made the extra seats easily removable, with their modest weight at under 11kg.
Boot space isn't much when all seven seats are deployed, but when folded it has 702 litres. It provides up to 1,060-litres of space in 5-seat configuration or 2,042 litres with the second-row folded flat – a further additional long loads of up to 3.2-metres.
The 5008 SUV is equipped with six safety airbags, ABS with EBD, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), ESP, Hill Assist Descent Control (HADC), lane departure warnings as well as traffic sign recognition. It also adds Speed Limit Information, Driver Attention Alert and its first ever Advanced Grip Control with 5 drive modes selection of Normal, ESP off, Sand, Mud and Snow.
The all-new Peugeot 5008 will be available in four colours Emerald Crystal, Amazonite Grey, Nera Black and Pearlescent White. Priced at RM 173,888 (on the road, without insurance), it also comes with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty, together with Nasim’s existing 24-hours Peugeot Assistance service and complimentary access to ‘SkyLounge by Naza’ at Subang Skypark.
