Shell Malaysia Trading has introduced a range of ‘Untuk Pasaran Malaysia’ (Made For Malaysia) labels for five of their best-selling Shell Helix products. These are the Shell Helix Ultra 5W 40 (4L), Helix HX7 10W 40 (4L), Helix HX7 5W 30 (4L), Helix HX5 10W 30 (3L) and Helix HX5 15W 40 (4L).
The reason for Shell Malaysia’s new labelling is the widespread exploitation of unauthorised and counterfeit lubricant products. These include lubricants that are bought out of the country and not meant for the local market.
Dato’ Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Malaysia with Shairan Husain, MD of Shell Malaysia Trading and Dato’ Basaruddin Sadali, Deputy Secretary-General of Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism.
This is where Shell Malaysia hopes the new labels with QR codes for product authentication will help consumers with official products. As the lubricants are meant exclusively for the Malaysian market, the five products are now blended with the same formulation and packed at Shell’s Lubricant Oil Blending Plant at Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan. Consumers will be able to access the QR code for authentication by peeling the front label which will also include a sign-up bonus, Shell Helix Engine Warranty and free Shell Helix products.

The introduction of these ‘Made for Malaysia’ labels is ongoing and is expected to be completed by January 2019. During this transition period, official genuine Shell Helix products with old labels would still be on sale and can be authenticated through the unique product code on the label.
Official genuine Shell Helix engine oils for the Malaysian market can be purchased from Shell Helix-branded workshops, selected workshops served by authorised Shell distributors and Shell retail stations. They are also available online through Shell Malaysia’s official online stores at Lazada Malaysia, 11street and Shopee.
