Go Cashless When You Park: Top Parking Apps in Malaysia

Do you remember all the parking payment methods we had over the years? From the roadside parking meters, we progressed to parking coupons and automated parking payment machines. Now, you can use one of the numerous parking apps in Malaysia to pay for parking without cash.

Most if not all states in Malaysia already use parking apps for their outdoor parking. And while some states like Selangor, KL, Terengganu, and Kelantan may have more than one app you can use, other states like Perak, Penang, and Sarawak have their own proprietary app. Here are the top parking apps for KL, Penang, and other states in Malaysia.

Parking Apps in Malaysia

While you can still use street parking payment machines and parking coupons in most places in Malaysia, DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall) has completely removed the payment machines in Kuala Lumpur so you can no longer use them to pay the street parking fees. That said, most states are transitioning to a fully digital parking system with Selangor already being fully digital.

Each state or district may have different time windows in which the parking payment is enforced, and it’s important to be aware of them so you don’t get a summons for it. Here are the parking times/hours of some of the most popular areas.

  • DBKL parking time: 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday except public holidays
  • Selangor parking time: 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM in most districts, Monday to Saturday except public holidays
  • Perak parking time: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in most districts, Monday to Saturday except public holidays
  • Melaka parking time:  9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday to Sunday except public holidays
  • Johor parking time: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday to Thursday except public holidays
  • Seremban parking time: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday except public holidays
  • Penang parking time: 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday except public holidays
