Mazda launches brand new and super sleek CX-30 SUV in Malaysia

The new Mazda CX-30 SUV is now officially launched in Malaysia. Mazda’s distributor in Malaysia, Bermaz Motor, said the all-new CX-30 is available in three variants of two petrol and a sole diesel model – Skyactiv G 2.0, Skyactiv G 2.0 High and Skyactiv D 1.8 High. The CX-30 is fully imported and sits between the CX-3 and CX-5 SUVs in the local line-up.

Design

The CX-30 is the brand’s second model in the company’s new-generation product line-up to feature a matured Kodo design concept. Mazda states that the CX-30’s proportions “combine the toughness of an SUV with a supple, flowing beauty that transcends the category and the body surfaces provide rich, unlimited impressions that change from moment to moment.”

Visually, the CX-30’s lower body features black cladding to exude the bold look of an SUV and accentuate the flowing proportions of a coupe on the upper body. The combination of the rear fenders and narrow arched shape of the liftgate creates a powerful rear end with a wide, dynamic stance like a sports car.

Following in Mazda’s latest-generation design, the cabin interior is styled similarly to that seen in the current generation Mazda 3. The premium look and feel of the interior features a symmetrical cockpit layout centered on the driver, followed by the large sizeable wing-shaped dashboard hood that merges to the door trim on the passenger side.

Engine and Power

The Mazda CX-30 variants with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engines output a total 162 hp and 213 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. For the 1.8-liter four-cylinder diesel model, power output is 114 hp with 270 Nm of torque at 1,600 to 2,600 rpm. A 6-speed Skyactiv Drive automatic transmission with power driving the front wheels is paired with all variants.

Features

The specification list between the 2.0 High petrol and the 1.8 High diesel are identical except for the omission of the Sport mode Drive Selection switch on the diesel. In comparison to the standard 2.0 and 2.0 High variants, the latter does come with a host of features and creature comforts.

The exterior additions include Mazda’s Keyless Entry with walk away lock, sunroof with sliding and tilt glass, powered tailgate, four front and six rear parking sensors, and front and rear signature illumination on the head and taillights.

On the inside, the list includes dual-zone auto climate control with independent rear control, driver’s seat memory with power adjustment, leather seats and to top it off. The most important thing here is that Bermaz has decided to specify the CX-30’s infotainment unit as standard with Mazda’s 8.8-inch Connect Infotainment system with voice command, commander control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, eight speakers and a reverse camera.

The passive safety list has seven airbags, ABS, Dynamic Stability Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist, Traction Control, Hill Launch Assist, and Isofix with anchor points and top tethers as standard. Supplementing it and only available on the High variants is Mazda’s full suite of advanced safety technologies that include Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Lane-Departure Warning, Lane-Keep Assist, front and rear Smart Brake Support and Mazda’s Radar Cruise Control.

To top things off, driver aids and vehicle advance technologies such as Mazda’s Active Driving Display, i-Spot Idling Technology and G-Vectoring Control Plus also comes standard on all variants.

Price, Colors and Ownership

The CX-30 is available in eight exterior colors including Machine Gray, Polymetal Gray, Titanium Flash, Sonic Silver, Deep Crystal Blue, Snowflake White Pearl, Jet Black and Soul Red Crystal. On-the-road prices excluding insurance are RM143,059, RM164,059 and RM172,944 for the 2.0, 2.0 High and 1.8 High diesel, respectively. Ownership comes with five years manufacturer warranty free maintenance including labor, parts and lubricants up to 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
