How to Claim Your 1-Year CARSOME Extended Warranty

Car Warranty vs Insurance

A car warranty is a service where a provider will help to cover the cost of labor and parts for certain malfunctions in your car within a specified period of time and/or mileage. Most new cars come with a five-year warranty with varying mileage coverages. 

Car insurance, on the other hand, covers the cost of damage to your car or injury if you’re involved in a road accident, or if your car is affected by other causes such as theft, fire, or other natural disasters. 

While all cars are legally required to have insurance coverage before being allowed on the road, a car warranty is usually provided to new cars in case of manufacturing defects. Therefore, most used cars don’t come with warranties unless their principal warranty is still intact. With a CARSOME Certified car, you can enjoy warranty coverage even on a used car.

What Is Included in the CARSOME Extended Warranty Program?

Unlike other extended car warranties in Malaysia, the CARSOME Extended Warranty Program (EWP) comes at no extra cost and is available on all CARSOME Certified cars only. The warranty program comprises two plans – the Gold plan which is automatically applied to all our cars and the Platinum plan which can be purchased as an optional upgrade. Also worth noting, our used car extended warranty plans cover the whole of Malaysia.

Both of these warranty plans have varying coverages but both will cover your car for one year or 20,000 kilometers, whichever happens first. In either case, you’ll have a maximum coverage of RM 25,000 per policy. If you have the Gold plan, your maximum claim limit will be RM 5,000 per claim, whereas with the Platinum Plan, your maximum claim limit will be RM 10,000 per claim.

Gold Plan

The Gold plan EWP comes standard with all CARSOME Certified cars and entitles you to the following coverage in the event of a mechanical or electrical failure:

Platinum Plan

Platinum plan EWP comes as an optional upgrade that you can purchase. Depending on the engine capacity and age of the car, this warranty plan costs between RM600 and RM1500. If you’d like to have additional warranty coverage for your car, you can get this plan for extra peace of mind. Below are the coverages included in the Platinum plan.

How to Claim Your CARSOME Warranty

Our extended car warranty covers the whole of Malaysia. Here’s how to claim your car’s CARSOME warranty.

Step 1: Contact CARSOME

If you come across an issue with your car, just give CARSOME a call at 1800-82-3388. Our friendly customer service team will check if it’s a covered component and guide you through the claim process, including what documents you’ll need and where to find the nearest Authorized CARSOME Service Center.

Step 2: Take your car to an Authorized CARSOME Service Center

At the Authorized CARSOME Service Center, a preliminary inspection will be conducted and you will receive a repair quotation. If you are planning to make a claim, you will need to submit the following documents: 

(a) Repair Quotation (provided by Authorized Service Center);

(b) EWP Claim Form (provided by CARSOME);

(c) EWP Certificate/Proof of Purchase (provided by CARSOME);

(d) Warranty Booklet (provided by CARSOME);

(e) Copy of your NRIC & driving license; and

(f) Vehicle’s registration card / details.

Step 3: Relax and wait for your car to be fixed

CARSOME will contact you within 48 hours after inspecting your vehicle to let you know if your claim is approved. If it is, the Authorized Service Center will start the necessary repairs, but we’ll make sure you fully understand all the costs involved before they begin. 

Step 4: Collect your car

Once your car repairs are finished, we’ll take care of the payment and let you know it’s ready for pick-up. Just a friendly heads-up, if your claim goes over the coverage limit, the “Excess Claims”, will be borne by you. If that happens, you can make the payment directly with the Authorized Service Center before collecting your vehicle.
