It’s finally here. The much-awaited fuel subsidy gradual removal begins its baby steps with the blanket subsidy on diesel fuel. This follows Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s decision on targeted diesel subsidies in Peninsular Malaysia.
Malaysians can still enjoy the privileges of subsidized diesel under the Bantual Subsidi Madani (BUDI Madani) program as announced by the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
The BUDI Madani program allows subsidized diesel to be allocated into two categories – BUDI Individual and BUDI Agri-Komoditi. Here’s how you can qualify for the new diesel subsidy program:
How To Qualify for BUDI, Malaysia’s Latest Diesel Subsidy Program
As mentioned, BUDI is split into two categories, Individual and Agri-Komoditi. To qualify for BUDI Individual, you must possess the following qualities:
BUDI Individual
- Must be a Malaysian citizen
- Owns a non-luxury diesel vehicle/s under 10 years old with an active road tax.
- Have an annual income of RM100,000 or below.
- Have a background check with the Inland Revenue Board (IRB)
On the other hand, to qualify for BUDI Agri-Komoditi, you must fit the following criteria:
BUDI Agri-Komoditi
- Must be registered farmers or smallholders with relevant agencies.
- Annual turnover between RM50,000 and RM300,000.
Applications for both BUDI Madani categories will be open starting on 28th May 2024. Both categories will be eligible to receive up to RM200 in diesel subsidies.
Where to Apply For BUDI’s Diesel Subsidy?
To apply for BUDI’s diesel subsidy program, you can register at their website at https://budimadani.gov.my. Early bird applications will be expected to receive their first cash assistance by mid-June 2024 if they register before the 3rd of June, 2024.
Subsequent approvals will receive cash assistance within two weeks into the applicant’s bank accounts and BSN branches for non-account holders.
