The 2019 year has started off with auspicious beginnings for all brands as the Chinese New Year closes in February. It has been a busy month for quite a few brands as some have launched their latest vehicles and are also offering deals for the new year.

 

Exclusive BMW M Performance Editions now available

BMW Malaysia has introduced BMW 330e and X5 xDrive 40e M Performance Editions that are equipped with M Performance Accessories. Only 300 units are offered for each of these editions. The 330e comes with sportier aerodynamics and aesthetics like M Performance side skirts, side sill foils and front grilles in high-gloss black as well as lightweight M Performance Carbon mirror caps for the side mirrors. At the rear, there’s a spoiler and rear diffuser and aggressive M Performance dark tail lights. The X5 edition also sports similar additions. The 330e M Performance edition is priced at RM 258,800 while the X5 xDrive 40e M Performance is at RM 390,800.

 

BMW Engine Oil service package now on Lazada

BMW Authorised Dealers are offering Engine Oil Service Packages on Lazada to provide customers with easier access to Original BMW Engine Oil and Service. The Engine Oil Service Packages are offered from RM 450 onwards for specific models of the E46 and E90 BMW 3 Series and E90 BMW 5 Series. Packages include original engine oil, oil filter and labour. Owners just need to purchase the service on participating dealers on Lazada and receive a call from the authorised dealer to schedule an appointment.

 

BMW Malaysia achieves record sales in 2018

The brand has delivered 14,338 vehicles last year which is a 13 per cent growth compared to 2017. BMW introduced 12 new models including Mini and has also grown its infrastructure for Electromobility with new i Charging facilities in four states. Of the breakdown, 3,363 units were of the 3 Series; 2,900 of the X5 xDrive 40e; 2,761 of the 5 Series and 1,200 Mini’s. In total, the brand recorded the best performance for electrified vehicles with 57 per cent (7,532) comprising of BMW’s and Mini’s.

 

Goodyear Assurance TripleMax 2 tyres launched

Goodyear Malaysia has launched the latest tyres designed for the mid-passenger segment. The new tyres have been optimised for excellent grip performance with short braking distance under wet road conditions for faster stops and safer drives. The Assurance TripleMax 2 comes with HydroTred Technology that has an innovative compound formulation to increase stickiness while the optimised microstructure delivers better grip and braking performance in wet road conditions. Other than improved comfort and handling, the resistance performance has additional technical features on the sidewall to increase impact resistance.

 

Honda introduces new HR-V models

Apart from the standard HR-V variants, Honda Malaysia has introduced the RS and Hybrid models. The HR-V RS is powered by a 1.8-litre SOHC i-VTEC engine mated to a CVT with a new Variable Gear Ratio steering system for sportier driving. The Sport Hybrid on the other hand is powered by a 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and integrated high power motor. The Hybrid includes an electric servo brake system for improved energy regeneration and a fully electric driven compressor air-conditioning system for the comfort of drivers and passengers. The new HR-V starts from RM 108,800 for the E variant, RM 118,800 for the V, RM 124,800 for the RS and RM 120,800 for the Sport Hybrid model.

 

All new Mazda’s now come with 5-year free maintenance

Bermaz Motor has announced that all new Mazda’s registered from January 1, 2019 onwards will come with a 5-years manufacture warranty and 5-years free maintenance inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants following the vehicle’s standard scheduled maintenance. This applies to all models except the BT-50 pick-up which is at 5-years or 100,000 km whichever comes first.

 

Naza Group has deals for Chinese New Year

For Kia, the brand is offering a limited 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage plus 5-years free maintenance service. Kia customers have the option to redeem gold valued up to RM 21,000 or enjoy cash rebates up to RM 31,000 with purchase of any Kia vehicle.

 

As for Peugeot, Nasim is offering free 3-year service for the Peugeot 3008 SUV, while purchase of the Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer will also get 3-year free service for the purchase of the MPV.

 

There’s something for DS Automobiles as well as Euro Motors is offering a low interest rate of only 0.88 per cent in collaboration with Maybank and an additional 5-year free service with every purchase of the DS 5. All promotions above are available until 28th February 2019.

 

Proton dealers get access to financing via portfolio guarantee

The strategic collaboration between Proton, AmBank and Credit Guarantee Corporation (CGC) will be providing financing to the dealers via CGC’s Portfolio Guarantee facility worth RM 100 million, which has been allocated exclusively for eligible Proton dealers to assist them in upgrading their existing outlets from 3S to 4S centres. The Portfolio Guarantee is a term loan facility ranging in value from RM 1 million to RM 3 million with 70 per cent of the loan guaranteed by CGC. The guarantee fee is to be absorbed by AmBank and Proton dealers will be able to submit their applications from 18 January 2019 onwards and will be attended on a first-come-first-served basis within the cap of RM 100 million allocation amount.

 

‘Capture More with Renault’ campaign ongoing

TC Euro Cars has announced their latest campaign that offers customers a chance to win up to RM 8,888 in cash. To participate, customers who purchase any Renault vehicle within the campaign period will be able to guess the total number of “mandarin oranges” that will be packed into the versatile boot space of a Renault Captur. First prize winner will drive home with RM 8,888, second prize RM 3,888 and third prize at RM 1,888. The promo package for the current Captur are available at RM 99,999 which includes free service package inclusive of part and labour for five years or 100,000 km whichever comes first. This is on top of the five-year full manufacturer’s warranty with unlimited mileage.

 

Customers of Motor Image Subaru vehicles not affected by defects

The brand who distributes Subaru vehicles in nine markets across Asia has announced that their customers are not affected by the power steering defect announced by Subaru Corporation. The Japanese automaker said that it suspended production at facilities in Japan from 16 January 2019 due to defects that affect the power steering in the Forester, XV and Impreza. The affected vehicles were manufactured between late December 2018 and 16 January 2019.

 

Toyota C-HR update now open for booking

UMW Toyota Motor has opened booking for the 2019 model C-HR with new designed rims, new garnish strips on the front and rear bumpers, and body mouldings along the side. They have also included a new Radiant Green Metallic colour to the exterior shades available. The cabin maintains the same theme but has a new upgraded infotainment with 6.75-inch touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

 

VW Alor Setar now a 4S with Body & Paint facility

The outlet operated by Lee Motors Autohaus has upgraded their dealership to a new 4S centre. Spanning over 35,352 square feet, the three floor facility now has the showroom, aftersales and body and paint for each floor.

 

The new B&P workshop offers services such as accident repair, paint touch-up and respray, panel knocking recovery, chassis alignment and paint mixing. The facilities available are a spray booth, two preparation bays, a polishing and finishing bay and a two-post hoist bay. The centre also uses Cromax Pro Waterbase, one of the world’s best water-based paints. Volkswagen Alor Setar 4S Centre operates from Sunday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm and is closed on Saturdays and public holidays.

 

VW savings this Chinese New Year

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) are offering savings from RM 2,000 for the Golf GTI, R and Beetle Sport and as much as RM 20,000 for the Passat Comfortline and RM 12,000 for the Vento Comfortline. The brand is also doing a tyre change deals as low as RM 184 with free installation, balancing and alignment depending on the number of tyres purchased. There’s a battery campaign where all VW owners can visit authorised dealerships for a free battery check. Those needing a new unit will be able to enjoy 20 per cent discount off new batteries. The battery deal runs until 28 February 2019 while the savings on models are while stocks last.
