The 2018 Perodua Alza has gone through a nip and tuck

Perodua has introduced the latest facelift Alza to the market. Although there are four variants available, only the SE and Advance variants receive the exterior facelift, with additions and refreshed looks happening in the interior of all variants.

The new look features a revised front and rear bumper design. The former has a larger lower intake and repositioned fog lamps, front parking sensors and a new grille to accompany the front view. At the rear, the central finish is new. On the SE and Advance, the 15-inch alloys are now in a titanium finish, and to top off the exterior changes, both variants also have a new Granite Grey colour.

Power still comes from the same 1.5-litre DOHC DVVT engine producing 103 hp and 136 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. Transmission options are a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic, with both options available on the Standard variant; the automatics on the SE and Advance.

Inside, the changes apply for all variants. The instrument panel meter design has been updated; the central air-conditioning vents now are split to feature a mix of fixed and adjustable units to provide better flow to the third row passengers; solar and security window tint as well as reverse sensors are standard fitment for all variants.

For infotainment, the Standard and SE variants now have an audio system with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, while the Advance does come installed with a roof-mounted monitor and an Android-based touch-screen multimedia system with Smart Link, Bluetooth, navigation and reverse camera functions.

Safety is now standard across the range, with dual-front airbags, Isofix, ABS, EBD and Brake Assist. The Alza has been rated with a four-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

The Alza S variant maintains a similar pre-facelift look.

The 2018 Perodua Alza variants is priced as below:

  • Standard (AT) – RM 54,290

  • SE (AT) – RM 56,890

Prices are Peninsular Malaysia on-the-road without insurance.
