Subaru showcases Forester e-Boxer at 2019 Singapore Motorshow

Motor Image Enterprises has unveiled the Forester e-Boxer, a hybrid version of the Forester at the 2019 Singapore Motorshow. The petrol-electric hybrid SUV has a range of impressive features that serves to maximise safety and comfort while also being part of a greener driving experience.

Because Subaru is known for the Boxer engines, the e-Boxer namesake is the highlight for this Forester. It is powered by a dual engine mechanism, where a lithium ion battery pack activates on lower speeds to conserve fuel, while the petrol engine kicks in at higher speeds. The result is a combined fuel consumption of 5.4 litres/ 100 km and an output of 188 Nm/ 4000 rpm of torque.

Subaru has also integrated the hybrid energy flow overview for the dual electric-petrol system in the 8-inch Multi-Function Display so that drivers can process critical vehicle information effortlessly with improved resolution and comprehensive detailing of internal status.

Structural Integration for a Better Driving Experience

The Forester e-Boxer is built on the same Subaru Global Platform as the non-hybrid line. The platform is able to accommodate a variety of engine systems including conventional, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric powertrains. Here the Forester e-Boxer showcases a seamless integration of framework and engine systems. Despite the hybrid set up, the cargo floor is only a fraction higher than the petrol version and is able to have over 500 litres of internal cargo space.

Safety is a Priority

The e-Boxer will incorporate Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. EyeSight includes Automatic Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Vehicle Start Alert, Lane Departure Warning and lane Sway Warning.

The hybrid will also be fitted with the X-Mode function that gives drivers an added layer of safety when manoeuvring on uneven surfaces and challenging terrains. It manages different road conditions and is able to tackle the trickiest of terrains with a push of a button. There’s also good road clearance with a minimum ground clearance of 220 mm.
