Mercedes-Benz E 300 AMG Line Is Now Assembled Locally

Last week, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia announced two significant updates – a new locally assembled E 300 AMG Line, and their best-ever first-half sales results.

 

E 300 AMG Line

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s unveiling of the E 300 AMG Line unfortunately replaces the E 350e plug-in hybrid that is offered under the brand’s EQ Power range of vehicles. This variant now joins the E 200 Avantgarde, E 250 Avantgarde and Exclusive, E 43 AMG and E 63S AMG.

 

In terms of performance, the E 300 AMG Line features the same 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine but with an output of 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque from 1,200 to 4,000 rpm. Mated to the unit is Merc’s 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission with Direct Select paddle shifters.

 

Driving dynamics are as standard with the modes of Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport + and Individual. Together with Agility Control suspension with passive selective damping system, the ride comfort does it duties in all road conditions.

 

On the exterior, the new E 300 will have Multibeam LED headlamps that can illuminate the roads ahead and also deactivate areas that would be too bright for other drivers on the road. What also separates this E 300 AMG is the 20-inch Multi-spoke AMG alloy wheels. Inside, the widescreen media display of two 12.3-inch screen is the highlight for the current generation E-Class. The Comand Online infotainment system is the latest with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is joined by the 13-speaker Burmester surround sound system, Parking Pilot with 360-degree camera. Finishing in the cabin is with Artico Leather for the upper dashboard, metal-weave trim with centre console in piano black lacquer, and nappa leather upholstery and steering wheel.

 

The E 300 AMG Line will be priced at an estimated RM 388,888.

 

Sales for First Half 2018

The brand locally has sold 6,790 vehicles for the first six months of 2018, a 15 per cent increase over the previous year. Of the total vehicles sold, the brand’s locally produced C, E and S-Class accounted for 4,322 units while the A, B, GLA and CLA-Class came to 996 units in total. The two segments recorded increases of 18 and 20 per cent respectively compared to the same period in 2017.

The SUV range recorded 1,291 units sold and the brand’s Dream Cars collection achieved 181 units.

 

After Sales

Mercedes-Benz has recorded that its dealer network for the first half of 2018 registered a service volume of 71.650 cars in 31 service centres. This constitutes as a 16 per cent increase over 2017. Furthermore, the brand has expanded its centres with an upgraded NZ Wheels Klang Autohaus, Auto Commerz Service Centre and Hap Seng Star Puchong South Autohaus. In total, there are 34 autohauses by nine local dealer groups in Malaysia.
