The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé Will Grunt, Roar and Do Burnouts

Last year at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé in its production form, which as the name suggests, is the brand’s latest four-door super coupé from the GT line-up.

Mercedes has said that this four-door coupé draws inspiration from the SLS and AMG GT models – seen in the low hood, long nose, and muscular rear haunches from its GT sibling. Similarities in design sees the Panamericana grille, jet-wing front apron, and towards the rear, the slim tail lights and the roofline that flows into the unmistakable haunches.

In terms of specifications, the launch model GT 63S 4Matic+ is fully loaded. The exterior comes with the AMG aerodynamics and carbon-fibre trim and night package. It’s quite an AMG affair here. Headlights are Multibeam LEDs, brakes are AMG high-performance units behind the 21-inch five-hole forged wheels, and the drive system rear-axle limited-slip differential which also has rear-wheel steering and Drift Mode. To top it off, AMG performance exhaust system.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launched the top of the line GT 63S 4Matic+ which in performance numbers features a 4.0-litre V8 engine developing 639 hp and 900 Nm of torque at 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. Mated to a 9G AMG MCT Speedshift transmission, the century sprint is just 3.2-seconds.

Inside the cabin is a mix of styles, with the centre console as the differentiator. Here the AMG GT 63S has the gear shifter located just above the centre glove box with the touchpad above and flanked by eight Dynamic Select buttons (four on each side). Just like the AMG themed exterior, the interior comes with the AMG matt carbon-fibre trim, Performance steering wheel in Dinamica microfiber, Performance seats, Air-balance package, AMG illuminated door sills, and contrasting yellow seat belts. Of course this is rounded by the Comand Online infotainment unit with two 12.3-inch displays, Burmester surround sound system, Head-up display, Wireless charging at the front and rear, and Apple CarPlay support amongst others.

As for the safety and assistance package, it comes with the Active Distance Assist and Parking Assist with Parktronic, Easy-pack tailgate, Track Pace, Steering Assist and more.

But Mercedes-Benz Malaysia won’t just have the GT 63S. The 3.0-litre inline-six cylinder versions in 367 hp and 435 hp with EQ Boost are in the GT 43 4Matic+ and GT 53 4Matic+ variants.

The price starts with RM 1,098,888 for the GT 43, RM 1,298,888 for the GT 53 and RM 1,798,888 for the flagship GT 63S.
