The BMW Concept X7 Is Here For The First Time In South East Asia

BMW Malaysia has unveiled the Concept X7 iPerformance vehicle at Bangsar Shopping Centre – its first appearance not only in Malaysia, but in South East Asia. First revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the X7 Concept is the brand’s largest and most luxurious BMW SUV to date. Together with the Concept 8 Series that was previewed earlier this year, the brand is using these vehicles to showcase a new direction in luxury and design.

More than just a Concept vehicle, both this X7 and 8 earlier this year are a precursor to a future production model, as seen in the new 2018 8-Series.

Design

The Concept X7 provides a presence unlike any other BMW X vehicle. At the front, the bold and striking vertical kidney grille paired with the wide yet slim elongated twin LED headlights although different are a signature for the brand. A closer look at the headlamp units when illuminated, are a display for BMW’s Laser lights with a blue signature X to denote its new flagship status within the range.

Move towards the side and the silhouette of high-set lines of the flanks project a strong character. When viewed from the left, the 23-inch multi-spoke rims are a prominent display, and is housed within circular wheel arches – a first for a BMW X series.

Once at the rear, the immense size of the vehicle does highlight its flagship status, but it is at this angle that the X7 displays its SUV nature. The slim rear lights with its three-dimensional L-shape are similar to those in the Concept 8 as well.

Welcome space in luxury and comfort

Much like the Concept 8, the X7 features an interior that is ambiently spacious and sophisticated. Six seats are arranged in three rows, with the third at the rear easily accessible from the second. While we believe the production X7 as standard will be a seven-seater, there could also be an option for six seen here. A mix of olive-bronze with smoke white leather covers the seats and gives off an amazing contrast and exclusivity.

Thanks to the Y structure in the panoramic roof, the complete glass piece turns the cabin into an open space for the front and rear passengers – an experience of freedom and lightness unlike any X vehicle.

Digitalised and personalised

Backlit crystal glass that cover control elements like the selector lever, iDrive controller and steering wheel add to the sophistication in these concepts. Infotainment is also available for the second-row passengers, and as concepts go, passengers will have access to highly personalised, digital services for entertainment or productivity. Content can even be shared with others on board through touch gesture, forwarding an article to the next-display or transfer an address from their email directly into the car’s navigation system.

BMW’s Concept X7 iPerformance will be displayed at Bangsar Shopping Centre until 22nd July 2018.
