Proton X70 owners go on a drive of a lifetime to Geely’s HQ in China

For the next 33 days, nine Proton X70 owners will have a drive and trip of a lifetime. They will be driving from Kuala Lumpur to Hangzhou in China in a drive that will span four countries, 13 cities and 13,000 km. Their destination? To the headquarters of the Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, where the X70 was developed.

This private trip, dubbed the ‘Proton X70 Malaysia-China Amazing Trip 2019’, is one that is led by the Borneo Automobile Leisure Touring Team and the Kunming Scenery-Customer International Travel Co. and supported by Proton. The company has set up checkpoints along the route through Thailand and Laos at dealer locations and service centres to welcome the participants.

The flag off ceremony took place earlier today at Proton’s Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam and is expected to reach Hangzhou by 12th March, with a return date to Kuala Lumpur on 28th March. Of course owners will visit the Geely Experience Centre and learn more about Geely’s history and their latest models on sale.

For owners and drivers, the trip will certainly be one for memories and relationships. It serves as an opportunity to experience the capabilities of the X70 on a variety of roads and climate conditions, as well as view the sights, meet new people and make friends.

Since it was launched just two months ago, Proton has delivered over 5,500 units of the X70 to new owners. For Proton, this trip presents an opportunity to showcase the X70 to buyers in overseas markets, especially in Asean countries, which are key to future sales growth. As mentioned, this will also prove that the SUV is capable of performing in a number of different environments and road conditions as it travels from Malaysia to China.
