Michelin launches Energy XM2+ tyres in Malaysia

After 8 years of serving Malaysians with the reliable and long-lasting Energy XM2 tyres, Michelin has launched the XM2+, a replacement to the XM2 that promises longer lasting performance and shorter wet braking distance when worn.

Aimed at small and mid-size passenger cars, the new Energy XM2+ has been developed to outperform the previous generation in wet braking, especially when compared to the average of other premium competitors. Michelin also states that the XM2+ also provides up to 25% longer mileage compared to the other competitors.

This image showcases the braking performance of the Michelin Energy XM2+ tyres when new vs worn compared to Competitor A and B. The recorded distance is a calculated average of all the tests conducted within launch day.

At the launch, Michelin Malaysia conducted driving and braking tests in the wet for the XM2+ and compared it to two other competitors. Results are proven to be better across the board, especially in the wet for the worn XM2+ tyres (up to the tyre wear indicator) in the 80 to 0 km/h emergency braking test.

According to Michelin, the stopping improvement is thanks to a new formulation of full silica tread compound. The new XM2+ has the same thread pattern as the XM2 but now has the ‘+’ sign under the brand designation.

There will be 32 sizes available from 14 to 16-inches for the Malaysian market, with prices starting from RM 200 and will be at all Tyre Plus and Michelin dealers from July 2019 onwards.
