It’s all about black: Mini Malaysia introduces exclusive Countryman Blackheath Edition

If Gotham City’s “Dark Knight” is to choose his daily ride, Mini’s latest Countryman Blackheath would be it. The limited-edition Countryman is completely decked out in an all-black design and takes its name after the dark shrub land of Blackheath, South East London in the United Kingdom. Only 48 units will be available in Malaysia.

Bold in Black

The Mini Countryman Blackheath exterior color is exclusively in Midnight Black, making its debut for the current generation’s car. The Mini Accessories with piano black color trims emphasize the dark side of the Countryman – they are also on the headlight and taillight trim, front grille, door handles, front and rear emblem as well as on the ‘Countryman’ script on the rear trunk. The exterior look is finished off with newly designed LED fog lights, aerodynamic wing mirror caps and 19-inch John Cooper Works Circuit Spoke wheels.

Power and drive

The Countryman Blackheath Edition is the full-bodied Cooper S variant; this means that it is powered by a 2.0-liter Mini Twinpower Turbo engine that outputs 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque from 1,350 to 4,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch sports automatic transmission with the drive powering the front wheels. The century sprint from a standstill is achieved in just 7.5-seconds and will go on to a top speed of 225 km/h. Fuel consumption is rated at 6.6-liters per 100 km.

Interior and features

The cabin of the Blackheath is sleek and equipped with the chrome line interior trim. Cross punch carbon black leather sport seats, Mini Yours illuminated interior trim in piano black, and an anthracite headliner complete the look. The Blackheath is also equipped with the newly redesigned electronic selector lever – also seen on the Mini hatchback models – the shifter returns to the original position after changing between reverse or drive.

As for the infotainment unit, it comes with an 8.8-inch Mini Navigation with built-in Mini Connected 4G SIM and Apple Carplay. Users will be able to access a wide range of digital services like concierge service and remote services through the Connected app. Accompanying the infotainment unit are creature comforts and driving aids like the 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, mobile phone wireless charger and heads-up display.

Price and ownership

The Mini Countryman Blackheath Edition is priced at RM253,888 on-the-road without insurance. Ownership includes Mini Malaysia’s four-years unlimited mileage warranty with free scheduled service and five-years roadside assistance with a list of services including 365-days-a-year accident, phone assistance and on the spot hotline. Financing options through BMW Group’s financial services Malaysia starts from RM2,908 per month based on an 80% loan and five-year tenure.
