Here’s what happened at Porsche’s first Sportscar Together Day in Malaysia

The first Sportscar Together Day in Malaysia brought together Porsche fans, owners and enthusiasts to an event that celebrates the essence of Porsche. The day’s highlight saw a record 320 Porsche’s on track at the Sepang International Circuit. The parade has officially been certified as the ‘Largest Porsche Gathering’ in the Malaysia Book of Records.

From race cars, super cars to everyday sports cars, guests were treated to a closer look at iconic models in its 70-year heritage. Cars included the 911 GT3 Cup race cars from the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, all 8 generations of the 911 including the latest 992, the 919 Hybrid, 918 Spyder and even a peek at the Mission E 1:3 scale model that is the concept designation for the upcoming all-electric Porsche Taycan.

Engaging programmes included the Porsche Driving Experience where participants took part in lane change braking exercises as well as a slalom challenge. Parents with children also signed up their kids for the Porsche Junior Experience programme. The brand also took the opportunity to introduce new products and solutions in the form of the Macan S and a 360 Leasing programme.

Porsche Macan S

The introduction of the Macan S joins the local Porsche line up. Underneath the hood lies a new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engine developing 354 hp and a torque of 480 Nm, a 14 hp and 20 Nm increase compared to its predecessor. Updates include the LED lightbar at the rear, and a lighting system that features full LED technology as standard.

The Porsche Active Stability Management (PASM) active damper control system has been modified to adapt to the new model’s features, the height-adjustable air suspension with optimised rolling pistons and new shock absorber hydraulics and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus are optionally available to improve the model’s driving dynamics and handling further.

With increase in power comes better brake response. A change in pedal feel and immediacy is noticeable, with the driver being able to feel a very precise pressure point. Larger front brake discs in diameter and thickness positively influences the driving dynamics of the Macan S.

The Macan S is now open for booking and starts from RM 625,000 inclusive of the Premium Package as standard and a 4-year warranty and maintenance package, including parts and labour.

Porsche 360 Leasing programme

This new programme is an alternative to conventional ownership models via financing and provides customers and companies the financial flexibility to drive away with a new Porsche every three years with only a 10% or 25% refundable security deposit (for company lease of individual lease respectively) based on the selected vehicle value. Customers are only required to pay the monthly lease rental during the three-year lease tenure, which provides customers the opportunity to invest of save their funds that would otherwise be spent on owning the entire cost of the car.

At the end of the lease term, customers have the option to either upgrade their current leased Porsche model to another to enjoy a different driving experience, or upgrade to the latest model in the same range. Those who also want to extend their lease or potentially have ownership on the current model can also do so or decide to return the leased car without worry on the residual value or additional commitments.

Best of all, as part of the ownership, cars under the 360 Leasing come with warranty and maintenance package that includes service, parts and labour by an authorised Porsche Service Centre. A full comprehensive insurance package for all drivers, inclusive of windscreen and natural disaster cover and road tax is also included.
