2018 marks the 12th year for BMW’s Shorties in Malaysia, the country’s longest running short film competition. This year’s theme for the competition is ‘Drive’ – a word to describe the determination to achieve a goal, with motivation, passion and ambition. A fitting follow up from last year’s theme titled ‘Vision’.
This year’s line-up of judges are familiar names consisting Shorties veteran Lina Tan, Isazaly Mohd Isa, Nadira Ilana, Tan Chui Mui and Quek Shio Chuan, 2011 Shorties winner.
Production grant for 2018 has been increased to RM 80,000 for the grand prize winner. Recognition for film making talent will also be awarded in an extensive range of supporting categories including Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Editing and Best Sound Design and also the People’s Choice Award.
