Toyota Vellfire Overview

The Toyota Vellfire is a luxury multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) based on the Toyota Alphard. Introduced in 2008, the Vellfire is built as the Alphard’s more affordable sibling and has a smaller 2.5-liter engine instead of a 3.5-liter one. That being said, the Vellfire is still well equipped with all the tech and comfort features buyers would want in a luxury MPV.

Interior

The interior of the Toyota Vellfire is elegant and designed to be comfortable and ergonomic for the driver and passengers. It has a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with handsfree switches, an Optitron combination meter with a 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display (MID), wireless charger, front and rear auto air-conditioning with nanoe air purification, and a 10.2-inch HD monitor for the rear passengers.

All the seats are upholstered in black leather, with both front seats having powered adjustment functions and seat air-conditioning, while the front passenger seat gets an additional Ottoman. The first-row seats are power-reclinable Captain Seats with Ottomans, while the seats on the second row are standard 50:50 split-folding seats. The Toyota Vellfire’s interior also has plenty of lighting with LED ambient ceiling lamps, front and rear personal lamps, glove box lams, door courtesy lamps, and luggage room lamps. Additionally, the Vellfire has manual sunshades to block out more sun.

Exterior

Compared to the Toyota Alphard, the Toyota Vellfire has a bold exterior with a more futuristic design. It has a dual LED headlight layout with an auto-leveling function, sequential turn signals, cornering lamps, daytime running lights (DRLs), front LED fog lamps, and LED rear combination lamps. Other exterior features include a rear spoiler with an integrated LED high mount stop lamp, and twin moonroofs.

Cabin Space

The Toyota Vellfire measures 4,935 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, and 1,895 mm tall. With its large dimensions, the Vellfire offers plenty of room for six to seven occupants. It also has a 148-liter boot that is expandable by folding the rear seats down.

Infotainment System

The Vellfire has a nine-inch capacitive touch screen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wi-Fi, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity along with voice recognition controls. Additionally, there are eight speakers around the cabin.

Toyota Vellfire Driving Performance

The Toyota Vellfire is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It produces 180 PS of max power at 6,000 rpm and 235 Nm of max torque at 4,100 rpm. This gives the Vellfire a top speed of 170 km/h and a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 11.3 seconds. 

Toyota Vellfire Safety Features

The Toyota Vellfire has all the standard safety features expected in a modern car as well as the full suite of Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). It’s equipped with seven SRS airbags, ISOFIX tether, front and rear parking sensors with parking support braking, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Stability Control System (VSC) with Traction Control (TRC), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Electric Parking Brake (EPB) with Brake Hold, a Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), as well as front and rear Digital Video Recorders (DVRs).

Advanced safety features in the TSS suite include Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) for all speeds, and Automatic High Beam. Other security features include an alarm system with immobilizer, siren with a backup battery and cabin sensors, premium security and solar film, as well as a vehicle telematics system (VTS).
