Honda & CR-V Edit
The Honda CR-V is one of Malaysia’s best-selling C-segment sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for good reason. Its class-leading passenger and cargo space have helped it maintain its top spot in the local SUV market over the years. The CR-V competes against other large SUVs like the Proton X70 and Mazda CX-5.
There are four variants of the Honda CR-V in Malaysia. They are the 1.5 TC-P 2-wheel drive (2WD), 1.5 TC-P 4-wheel drive (4WD), 2.0 2WD, and the Black Edition.
The price of a new Honda CR-V in Malaysia starts from RM139,073.73 for the 2.0 2WD, RM157,245.91 for the 1.5 TC-P 2WD, RM161.543.99 for the Black Edition, and RM162,540.18 for the 1.5 TC-P 4WD.
The Honda CR-V is available in five colors. They are Lunar Silver Metallic, Dark Olive Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Passion Red Pearl. The CR-V Black Edition is only available in Crystal Black Pearl.
The interior of the Honda CR-V is spacious and practical with various features that make it a comfortable space for the driver and passengers. Firstly, it has remote engine start, smart entry with push start button, walk away auto lock, cruise control, and ECON mode. The driver also has an 8-way driver power seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a 7-inch TFT meter, and a sunglass holder.
Other features include a dual-zone auto air conditioning, rear air vents, leather upholstery throughout, lumbar support, a 4-way passenger power seat, 60:40 split rear seats with one-touch folding, auto front wipers, remote retractable door mirrors, a tonneau cover, two rear USB chargers, and active noise control. The CR-V also has wood trims throughout the cabin with a light-colored headlining. The CR-V Black Edition, however, has an all-black interior with black trims, headlining, and all-black leather seats embroidered with ‘Black Edition’ on the front seats.
On the exterior, the Honda CR-V has full LED lighting with LED auto headlights with auto-leveling, LED daytime running lights, DRLs, LED front fog lights, and LED taillights. Other features include body-colored door handles, a tailgate spoiler, a hands-free power tailgate, and chrome twin tailpipes. The Honda CR-V Black Edition stands out with black front grille, black front and rear bumper garnishes, and 18-inch piano black alloy wheels.
The Honda CR-V is one of the most spacious C-segment five-seater SUVs in Malaysia. It measures 4,623 mm long, 1,855 mm wide, and 1,679 mm tall. It has a class-leading 522-liter boot which is expandable to 1,084 liters. To make loading and unloading easy, it also has a low and wide boot opening.
The infotainment on the Honda CR-V is handled by a 7-inch advanced touchscreen display audio system. It has two USB ports, voice command, hands-free telephone, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. Audio is played on eight speakers.
The base Honda CR-V 2.0 2WD variant is powered by a 2.0 L engine producing a max power of 154 PS at 6,500 rpm and a max torque of 189 Nm at 4300 rpm. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds and has a fuel consumption of 7.3 L/100 km.
All other variants are powered by a 1.5 L turbocharged engine producing 193 PS of power at 5,600 rpm and 243 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 5,000 rpm. The 1.5 TC-P 2WD and Black Edition variants have a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 8.9 seconds and fuel consumption of 6.8 L/100 km while the 1.5 TC-P 4WD variants have slightly lower performance with a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 9.3 seconds and fuel consumption of 7.0 L/100 km.
As one of Honda’s flagship vehicles in Malaysia, the Honda CR-V has a large suite of safety features. To start, it has six airbags, seatbelt reminders, ISOFIX anchors and tether, Anti-lock Braking (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Agile Handle Assist (AHA), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Auto Brake Hold (ABH), Hill Start Assist (HSA), and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). It also has front and rear parking sensors with a multi-angle reverse camera, Honda LaneWatch Camera (LWC), driver attention monitor, security alarm with immobilizer, and the Honda SENSING safety suite.
Honda SENSING is a full suite of driver-assistive technologies that can detect other vehicles and pedestrians, and take actions to avoid collisions.
There are eight technologies in the Honda SENSING; Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Low-Speed Follow (LSF), and Auto High Beam (AHB)
The Honda CR-V offers excellent practicality and value in the SUV segment. While it’s not the cheapest or the sportiest SUV available, it is a sensible choice for buyers looking for a reliable family vehicle.
