Honda & BR-V Edit
The Honda BR-V is a 7-seater Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) developed for the Asian market. It was designed as a spacious, comfortable vehicle for families that is excellent value for money. Introduced in 2017, it was well received thanks to its fuel efficiency, style, and space.
Honda BR-V Variants
The Honda BR-V comes in two variants; 1.5L E and 1.5L V. Both share a 1.5L i-VTEC engine paired with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) but differ in trim and some creature comfort features.
Honda BR-V Pricing
The Honda BR-V is priced at RM86,726.00 for a brand new 1.5L E variant and RM93,420.27 for a 1.5L V variant.
There are a total of five colors available for the Honda BR-V in Malaysia. Options include Platinum White Pearl, Marine Purple Pearl, Model Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, and Passion Red Pearl.
While both variants of the Honda BR-V are well equipped, there are differences between the 1.5L E and 1.5L V variants. For starters, the 1.5L E model has a urethane-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, and fabric seats. The 1.5L V model instead has leather on the steering wheel, gear knob, and upholstery, as well as additional features including paddle shifters, a steering wheel switch audio control, a 7-inch display audio system, HDMI port, power-retractable door mirrors, and reverse camera. The shared features between both variants are smart entry with push-start button, rear air conditioning vents, and 11 cup holders.
On the exterior, the Honda BR-V is equipped with projector halogen auto headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a shark fin antenna, 16-inch wheels, and roof rails to attach roof racks and carriers. In terms of exterior differences, the 1.5L E variant has body-colored outer door handles and lacks front fog lights, while the 1.5L V variant has chrome outer door handles and halogen front fog lights. The Honda BR-V has an overall length of 4,451 mm, width of 1,735 mm, and height of 1,677 mm. Its ground clearance is 200 mm.
The Honda BR-V interior is spacious for a mid-sized family SUV. It has seven seats with plenty of leg and headroom thanks to its taller height. It has 223-liters of luggage space with the third row of seats up, and 539-liters of space with the third row folded down. Even the second-row seats are foldable allowing for long objects to be stored.
The Honda BR-V 1.5L E variant has a standard audio system without HDMI ports whereas the 1.5L V variant has a 7-inch display audio system with one HDMI port. Both variants have one USB port, six speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, and hands-free telephone support.
The 1.5L 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine puts out a maximum power of 120 PS (88 kW) at 6,500 rpm and a maximum power of 145 Nm (14.8 kg-m) at 4,600 rpm. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 12.2 seconds and has a fuel consumption of 6.4 L/100km which is very economical for a 7-seater SUV.
Although it is an affordable SUV, the Honda BR-V is still well-equipped with all the safety features one would expect in a modern family car. Inside, it has 2 SRS front airbags, front and rear seatbelts with 3-point ELR (emergency locking retractor), and rear seat ISOFIX. It also has Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), front and reverse sensors, and a security alarm with immobilizer. The 1.5L V variant comes with an additional camera while the 1.5L E variant does not.
As a versatile 7-seater family SUV, the Honda BR-V is priced competitively and packed with essential features and a fuel-efficient engine. It comfortably fits large families and can even transport large items thanks to the two rows of fold-down rear seats. For anyone looking for a stylish yet practical people mover, the BR-V is a good choice.
