The BMW 320i Sport and X1 M Sport facelift is now in Malaysia

BMW Malaysia has introduced the new facelifted X1 SUV in a sDrive20i M Sport variant, as well as a new 3 Series variant in the form of a 320i Sport that joins the existing G20 330i M Sport in Malaysia. These two vehicles are locally assembled and are from their best-selling segments of the brand’s line-up of cars here in Malaysia.

The 320i Sport is the very much awaited variant in the 3 Series portfolio since the latest seventh-generation launched in a single 330i M Sport variant last March in Malaysia. The differences between the two options can be seen in the horizontal T shape front bumper intakes with integrated Air Curtains.

The new 320i Sport is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine that outputs 184 hp with 300 Nm of torque at 1,350 to 4,000 rpm. Power goes through an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission that drives the rear wheels. It achieves the century sprint from a standstill in 7.1-seconds while fuel consumption is 6.3-liters per 100 km.

The interior cabin features an aluminium mesh effect with Pearl Chrome highlights and BMW’s Vernasca leather upholstery. The driver gauges and infotainment unit are equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Plus, which consists of an analogue instrument cluster with a 5.7-inch display and an 8.8-inch touch-sensitive control display with navigation in the centre dashboard.

Highlight features for the 320i Sport include the innovative Reversing Assistant for hands-free, semi-autonomous convenience when reversing in narrow streets, along with the rear-view camera fitted as a standard feature. Owners will also be able to employ the BMW Digital Key – a Near Field Communication (NFC) technology that allows the user to lock, unlock and even start the engine with compatible cell phones without the need for a physical car key.

The BMW 320i Sport is priced at RM243,800 on-the-road without insurance and comes with five years unlimited mileage warranty. Monthly instalment plans from BMW’s Balloon Financing Plan starts from RM2,788 (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a five-year tenure).

BMW offers the new facelifted X1 in a sole sDrive20i M Sport variant. The upgrades on the new X1 includes a larger kidney grille now joined in the middle, a redesigned front bumper with integrated LED fog lights, new LED headlights updated with the hexagonal daytime running lights, as well as new LED rear lights with a new lighting signature. The external look comes standard with the M aerodynamics package.

Mechanically, the new X1 continues to be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that outputs 192 hp with 280 Nm of torque at 1,350 to 4,600 rpm. It achieves full acceleration to 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.6-seconds, thanks to its pairing with a 7-speed Steptronic dual-clutch sports transmission. The combined fuel consumption of the new X1 is 6.5-liters per 100km. Thanks to the inclusion of the M Sport Suspension in the M Sport package, the X1 rides 10mm lower to the ground than the standard X1.

Inside, the interior trim is in aluminium with highlight trim finishers in Pearl Chrome. The SUVs central infotainment unit comes with an 8.8-inch touchscreen and can be used to control entertainment and navigation functions.
