Goodyear introduces SuperSport range to Eagle F1 family in Malaysia

Goodyear Malaysia has introduced the latest SuperSport range of tyres in the market – the SuperSport, SuperSport R and SuperSport RS. The Malaysian introduction comes after the brand’s recent sponsorship of three participating teams in the World Endurance Championship, Jota Sport, Jackie Chan DC Racing and High Class Racing.

The SuperSport range is categorised as UUHP (ultra ultra-high-performance) tyres and have been designed and developed for comfort, control, better grip and handling on the road. Using an innovative U-shaped compound, the Eagle F1 SuperSport Series has specialised power zones that creates pockets of control for superior wet and dry handling. The tyre also has a thread deformation protector that helps in maintaining its shape, allowing better footprint protection for high-speed stability. Additionally, the tyre also has a stiffer sidewall design which translates to improved handling and stability.

The SuperSport R tyre on the other hand brings performance to another level with improved grip levels and cornering stability. Move a rank higher and the SuperSport RS is the flagship race-focused tyre that has been approved for use on Porsche’s GT2 RS and GT3 RS.

Alex Ng, Managing Director of Goodyear Malaysia sharing his vision for Goodyear Malaysia in 2020.

“Racing is in our DNA. Throughout the years, Goodyear has been involved in many races such as Nascar, Le Mans and the British Touring Car Championship, therefore, it is inevitable that we will once again align ourselves with high-speed motorsports. We continue to innovate to bring cutting-edge technology and differentiated features to our tyres. The most important aspect is that motorsports allows us to test our capabilities and push our limits so that we can eventually achieve excellent technology transfer and utilise development experience from the tracks to the road,” said Alex Ng, MD of Goodyear Malaysia.

At the introduction, Goodyear also touched point with the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 and the Asymmetric 3 SUV tyres. For the former, the brand states that the Asymmetric 5 is a tyre that focuses on wet conditions and comes with a specialised thread design and Impulse Control Compound Technology. This allows the tyre to endure the force of high-speed braking and shorter braking distances.

As for the Asymmetric 3 SUV tyre like the name suggests, is meant for larger cars and SUVs. Goodyear states that it has been designed to be sturdy while promoting better fuel consumption due to its low rolling resistance. It is also capable of shortening braking distance in any condition through ActiveBraking Technology. Furthermore, a specialised compound known as the Grip Booster increases the tyre’s grip with the road surface – allowing it to be comfortable while maintaining handling and travelling at higher speeds for better control.
