The Proton Exora has been refreshed for 2019. Here’s the rundown.

Following from the updated Iriz and Persona just last month, Proton has also just launched the updated Exora MPV for 2019. Malaysia’s first MPV made its debut in 2009 which was then facelifted in 2011 to feature the new turbocharged Campro engines and gearbox. Now available in two variants of Executive and Premium, what’s new in the latest Exora?

Power

In terms of performance, the new Exora is powered by the same 1.6-litre turbocharged Campro engine developing 138 hp and 205 Nm of torque from 2,000 to 4,000 rpm and mated to a CVT transmission.

Exterior

Unlike the significant changes made to the Iriz and Persona, the exterior of the Exora hasn’t been worked on extensively. The only additions are the shark fin antenna on the black roof and a Rosewood Maroon exterior colour option. That aside, the Premium does come with Daytime Running Lamps, Rear Fog Lamp, Side Skirts, Rear Spoiler and Electric Folding Door Mirrors.

Interior

Most changes are to the cabin, where the upholstery, centre cluster, instrument cluster and head unit has been updated. The seats and trim on the doors now feature a perforated square quilt pattern; the centre cluster above the air vents have been redone and omits the digital clock and the instrument panel is now the same found in the recent Iriz and Persona with the colour multi-info display. Of course the Exora gets the same 7-inch touchscreen GKUI head unit with voice commands and 4G internet.

Technology and Safety

Following up from above, the similar head unit that was first seen in the Proton X70 is included with the Exora. Users will be able to use voice commands and has navigation, online music streaming, smartphone mirroring, Wifi connectivity. The 4G that comes with the unit has the same 1GB free data per month for five years included in the package.

In the safety department, the Premium variant gets dual Airbags, ABS with EBD and Electronic Stability Control, Rear Parking sensors with Reverse Camera.

Value Added Special and Price

Proton is giving 5-years of free labour service for those who purchase the Exora before the end of 2019 and is also giving 2-years free road tax for private registration and 1-year free for company registration for the first 1,000 buyers.

The Exora Executive is priced at RM 59,800 while the Premium goes for RM 66,800 on-the-road without insurance.
