Earlier today, Naza Italia, the official importer and distributor of Ferrari in Malaysia launched the Ferrari Portofino, the brand\u2019s latest Gran Tourer.<\/p>\n

Named after one of the most attractive villages on the Italian Riviera, the Ferrari Portofino is the successor to the company\u2019s California V8 hard top convertible launched in 2008, and further succeeded by the California T in 2014.<\/p>\n

Is it larger than the previous California T?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In terms of dimensions, the Portofino is 28 mm wider, 16 mm longer and 4 mm shorter than the California T at 1,938 mm (w), 4,586 mm (l) and 1,318 mm (h).<\/p>\n

What are the highlight features of the new Portofino?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Weight<\/span><\/i><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

One of the main features cannot be highlighted visually as it is based on the construction of the vehicle. When it came down to the structure of the Portofino, the brand replaced previously hefty items with lighter alternatives like the magnesium seat frames that trimmed 24 kg off the interior weight and over 31 kg in its frame by using aluminium undertrays instead. The lighter weight translates to better performance and a drop in emissions.<\/p>\n

Aerodynamics<\/strong><\/i><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

On the outside, its front fender vents is more than just for aesthetics. In fact, it works together with the slim ports beside the front headlamps. As air is channelled from the front and through the headlamp slits, it then moves into the wheel wells and over the brake discs to improve brake cooling, which then goes through the front fenders. The results reduces drag considerably \u2013 a six per cent reduction in drag compared to the California T.<\/p>\n

Tech<\/strong><\/i><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Inside, the Portofino also has an interesting new Passenger Video Display \u2013 a 8.8-inch second LCD touchscreen display that is able to show a set of data from the driver\u2019s display such as performance meters, entertainment and navigation that functions separately from the 10.2-inch central touchscreen display.<\/p>\n

What about power and transmission?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Make no mistake about Ferrari\u2019s baby<\/em> Portofino because it features a Turbocharged 3.9-litre V8, which although sounds similar to the previous California T, has 39 hp and over 5 Nm more than before. Total figures is 592 hp and a whopping 760 Nm of torque between 3,000 to 5,250 rpm. Century sprint is a quick 3.5-seconds which will take it to over 320 km\/h top speed. The transmission is a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic through Ferrari\u2019s E-Diff which sends power to the rear wheel with most traction.<\/p>\n

How much does it cost?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ferrari Portofino\u2019s base price is RM 948,000 or approximately RM 1.6-million on the road without insurance and customisations.<\/p>\n
