The NETC \u2013 located in Sg Choh, Rawang will be the first full-fledged vehicle emissions testing facility in the country. This facility will be a step forward in sustainable development, as it will include real-time measurement of exhaust emission gases for passenger cars in accordance with UN Regulation 83 (exhaust emission) and UNR 101 (fuel consumption).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC \/NETC---Soak-Roam-(Medium)_preview.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC%20\/NETC---Soak-Roam-%28Medium%29_preview.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\">The soak room is a drive-in temperature and humidity-controlled environmental room designed for testing vehicles with an empty fuel tank.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC \/NETC---Dyno-Room-(Wide-2)_preview.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC%20\/NETC---Dyno-Room-%28Wide-2%29_preview.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>The Dyno room.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The facility can perform both tests as well as the latest exhaust emission requirement, up to Euro 6c by using Worldwide Harmonized Light Duty Driving Cycle (WLTC). WLTC is a test procedure that defines a global harmonized standard for determining the levels of pollutants and CO2 emissions, fuel or energy consumption, and electric range from light duty vehicles (passenger cars and light commercial vans).\u00a0\u00a0Emissions tests are a requirement for vehicles to comply with Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) and EEV certification. The emissions lab is equipped with an Emission Chassis Dynamometer within a climatic chamber. It features a soak room, emission, equipment room and a control room which will be operated by Malaysian Automotive Institute (MAI).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC \/NETC---Control-Room-(Wide)_preview.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC%20\/NETC---Control-Room-%28Wide%29_preview.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The centre is open for testing to all vehicle manufacturers in ASEAN and Malaysia. According to MAI CEO Datuk Madani Sahari, all 28 OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) in Malaysia must carry out their emission testing overseas, which costs roughly between RM 30,000 and RM 40,000. He added \u201cWith the centre, we can guarantee that it will be 40% lower and only take up to three days to carry out test for one car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC \/NETCLAUNCH20_preview.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC%20\/NETCLAUNCH20_preview.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the event, MAI launched a voluntary EEV labelling scheme. The Voluntary EEV Label, is to be placed on certified EEVs, for consumers to collect details of the particular model with only a scan of a QR code. The labelling scheme is in line with Malaysia\u2019s commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 45% by the year 2030, as outlined by the UNFCCC under the Paris Agreement.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC \/NETCLAUNCH16_preview - Copy.jpeg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC%20\/NETCLAUNCH16_preview%20-%20Copy.jpeg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There were a couple of memorandum of understandings (MoU) that were signed at the launch event. The first MoU is between MAI and the Department of Environment (DOE) to take further steps towards environmental preservation. Both parties agreed to develop a pool of experts in environmental conservation, cooperate in capacity building programs for automotive industries and stakeholders. Meanwhile, the exchange of MoU between MAI and UKM aims to increase government-academic cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Management, UKM as a research university and strategic partner to MAI. The collaboration will mainly focus on fields of economics, accounting, business and trade.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC \/NETCLAUNCH27_preview.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/NETC%20\/NETCLAUNCH27_preview.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The establishment of NETC is another testament of a successful technology transfer from Daihatsu to Perodua Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd with MAI.
