Here the highlight competition is the Mileage Challenge that brings together teams to compete to travel the furthest in the least amount of fuel. For example, last year, the winning team managed to travel 2,289 km on just one litre of fuel.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell eco marathon 2018\/DSC_0090-rs.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell%20eco%20marathon%202018\/DSC_0090-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\">Team Eco Voyager of Malaysia explaining the mechanics of their vehicle to Datuk Iain Lo, Chairman of Shell Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>With the main categories of Prototype, UrbanConcept and Driver&#8217; World Championship Asia, the best mileage record for the Internal Combustion Engine category went to Panjavidhyal from Panjavidhya Technological College in Thailand. Team HuaQi-EV from Guangzhou College of South China University of Technology China came in second, and Team TP Eco Flash from Temasek Polytechnic in Singapore took third place.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell eco marathon 2018\/DSC_0118-rs.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell%20eco%20marathon%202018\/DSC_0118-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\">Datuk Iain Lo with the seven team captains at the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Although not in the top three, our Malaysian team Eco Voyager from University Malaysia placed third in the Prototype &#8211; Hydrogen category. The team succeeded in breaking their previous mileage record at 267 km\/m3.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell eco marathon 2018\/DSC_0113-rs.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell%20eco%20marathon%202018\/DSC_0113-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-size: 10px;\">The seven student teams from Malaysia at the Shell Eco Marathon Asia 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Yet the highlight of the event has to be given to Team Semar Urban UGM Indonesia from Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia as the first to cross the finish line with the least amount of fuel under the Drivers&#8217; World Championship challenge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell eco marathon 2018\/asia-prototype-car-on-track-rs.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/shell%20eco%20marathon%202018\/asia-prototype-car-on-track-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The top three teams from the Asian regional final will face off against the UrbanConcept teams from the Americas and Europe that will be held in London UK, July this year.
