{"id":8762,"date":"2018-02-02T05:46:20","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T05:46:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/x.www.carsome.my\/news\/toyota-lexus-malaysia-recall-for-airbag-sensors\/"},"modified":"2025-05-19T14:23:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-19T06:23:18","slug":"toyota-lexus-malaysia-recall-for-airbag-sensors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/item\/toyota-lexus-malaysia-recall-for-airbag-sensors","title":{"rendered":"Toyota &#038; Lexus Malaysia Recall For Airbag Sensors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UMW Toyota Motor has announced a recall to inspect and if needed, replace the airbag sensor of Toyota Corolla Altis, Lexus NX and Lexus RX models.<\/p>\n<p>This announcement is made following Toyota Motor Corporation&#8217;s global Special Service Campaign regarding the Airbag Sensor on 31st January 2018. <strong>Number of affected units are 2,800 of Toyota Corolla Altis, and 500 units of Lexus NX and RX manufactured from June 2015 to January 2016 distributed by UMWT and Lexus Malaysia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/2018 Feb Toyota Lexus recall\/2016-NX-300h-Premier-PC-5-rs.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/2018%20Feb%20Toyota%20Lexus%20recall\/2016-NX-300h-Premier-PC-5-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The defect relates to the manufacturing issues and possibilities that the insulation of Integrated Circuit (IC) chps in affected Pressure sensor and G sensors could peel off over time, creating an open circuit in the IC chip. If it would occur, the airbag warning light will illuminate and the curtain and or front airbags could become deactivated; failing to deploy when required to. This could increase the risk of injury to the occupants in the event of a crash.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/2018 Feb Toyota Lexus recall\/T_12797_RX-rs.jpg\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/2018%20Feb%20Toyota%20Lexus%20recall\/T_12797_RX-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Replacement should take about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on model and all costs of the replacement will be borne by UMW Toyota.
