Just this morning, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) officially launched the new Triton Athlete 4×4 pick-up truck in Malaysia. The Triton Athlete 4×4 will be available in a single choice of colour, Black Mica. The Athlete represents the latest variant to join the exciting range of Triton models overall line-up. It is good to note that although the Athlete is only available in one colour, it isn’t a limited edition variant!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

First and foremost, the new Triton Athlete is exclusively finished with a new Front Bumper Garnish, new Black Grille with Honeycomb Mesh, and Black 17-inch Alloy Wheels, new Sports Bar and Dark Grey and Orange Decal. Gloss black trim is also present on the front and rear bumpers, wheel arch extensions and side mirror covers. To add on, there is Bi-Xenon HID Headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights for extra visibility.<\/p>\n

Further finishings include \u2018ATHLETE\u2019 embroidery on the leather combination seats to further emphasize its strength and endurance as a 4×4. The black and orange theme is prevalent through its cabin, with \u2018ATHLETE\u2019 embroidery found on the leather steering, leather gear knob, door trim and centre console.<\/p>\n

The new touchscreen infotainment system now supports Apple CarPlay which has a black monotone interior with perforated orange leather combination. This is a great contrast and a good way to stand out amongst other Triton’s.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Mitsubishi’s signature Easy Select 4WD system optimizes torque distribution between the front and rear axles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beneath the hood, the Triton is powered by a 2.4 litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine that produces a healthy 179 hp at 3,500 rpm and 430 Nm of torque from 2,500 rpm. For the Malaysian market, the 4WD Triton will be offered with a 5-speed Automatic with Manual Mode transmission that also includes the 4WD Selector with Shift on the Fly mode. Furthermore, by simply turning the 4WD Selector, drivers can select between 2WD-Hi and 4WD-hi while driving at speeds of up to 100 km\/h, or to 4WD-Lo for the most challenging off-road conditions.<\/p>\n

The overall safety of the new Triton Athlete is much improved with seven SRS airbags, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability with Traction Control, Hill-Start Assist (HAS), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) and Brake Override System. Further strengthened by Mitsubishi\u2019s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) passive safety, the Triton Athlete is definitely tougher and more robust in its drive.<\/p>\n

Onto the pricing, the Triton VGT Athlete will be priced at RM 126,990<\/strong> on-the-road without insurance (which includes five years warranty or 200,000 km coverage).<\/p>\n
