It is only a <\/span>MINI <\/b>that can pull off the <\/span>MINI <\/b>look. From <\/span>Mr. Bean<\/span><\/i>\u2019s Citron Green 1977 Leyland MINI with a matte black bonnet to the red, white, and blue <\/span>MINI 3-Door<\/b> in the 2003 \u201c<\/span>The Italian Job<\/span><\/i>\u201d movie, it\u2019s clear that the <\/span>MINI 3-Door <\/b>hatch is an icon in the automotive industry. In 1994, the <\/span>BMW Group<\/b> acquired the <\/span>Rover Group<\/b> (which owned the iconic Mini) and in less than four years, <\/span>BMW <\/b>unveiled a <\/span>MINI <\/b>hatchback concept that was bigger, more mature, and ultimately more powerful.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2014, in its third generation, the <\/span>MINI Hatch<\/b> was released in Malaysia, codenamed <\/span>F56 <\/b>(3-door) and <\/span>F55 <\/b>(5-door \u2013 first ever in a <\/span>MINI Hatch<\/b>). The <\/span>MINI Hatch <\/b>was available in four variants, the <\/span>MINI Cooper<\/b>, the <\/span>MINI Cooper Chilli Pack<\/b>, the <\/span>MINI Cooper S<\/b>, and the <\/span>MINI Cooper S Wired Pack<\/b>. Four years later, the facelift was launched with a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (gearbox). Quick Run-down on the MINI Cooper and Cooper S Specs<\/b><\/h2>\n

The <\/span>MINI Cooper <\/b>is powered by a <\/span>1.5-liter three-cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo <\/b>engine (codenamed <\/span>B38<\/b> \u2013 the same engine found in the <\/span>F30 <\/b>BMW 318i<\/span><\/b><\/a>). The power is rated at <\/span>136<\/b> horsepower<\/b> with <\/span>220 Nm <\/b>of torque. The more powerful <\/span>MINI Cooper S <\/b>is powered by a <\/span>2.0-liter four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo <\/b>(codenamed <\/span>B48<\/b> \u2013 the same engine found in the <\/span>F30 <\/b>BMW 320i <\/b>and <\/span>330e<\/b><\/a><\/span>). This 2.0-liter turbo engine has <\/span>192 horsepower<\/b> with <\/span>280 Nm<\/b> of torque, which is a lot for a small hatchback. Both are paired to a <\/span>six-speed automatic transmission<\/b> and the more powerful <\/span>Cooper S <\/b>features <\/span>Sports Auto<\/b> mode with <\/span>Launch Control function<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exterior Features<\/b><\/h2>\n

The base <\/span>MINI Cooper <\/b>comes with halogen reflector headlights while the rest of the variants come with <\/span>LED <\/b>Daytime Running Lights (DRLs)<\/b><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>LED headlights<\/b>, and <\/span>LED fog lights<\/b> as standard. Furthermore, the <\/span>MINI Cooper <\/b>and <\/span>MINI Cooper Chilli Pack <\/b>get <\/span>16-inch<\/b> loop spoke silver <\/b>design rims while the more expensive <\/span>Cooper S <\/b>and <\/span>Cooper S Wired Pack <\/b>get <\/span>17-inch tentacle spoke silver<\/b> design rims. Both the <\/span>MINI Cooper <\/b>and <\/span>Cooper S<\/b> get different grilles and exhaust tips, the <\/span>Cooper S <\/b>features <\/span>more aggressive styling<\/b> such as a small <\/span>hood scoop<\/b> and <\/span>two front vents<\/b>. It also comes with <\/span>twin-tailpipes<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interior Features<\/b><\/h2>\n

Interior-wise, the base <\/span>MINI Cooper<\/b> is the only variant that comes with fabric seats while the rest come with leather upholstery. The base variant also gets a <\/span>chrome line trim<\/b>, <\/span>manual air-conditioner<\/b>, <\/span>MINI Radio Basis with Bluetooth connectivity<\/b>, and <\/span>sports leather steering wheel<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rest of the variants get <\/span>sports leather seats<\/b>, <\/span>dual-zone climate control<\/b>, <\/span>MINI Radio Visual Boost<\/b> with a <\/span>6.5-inch TFT screen <\/b>(while the <\/span>Cooper S <\/b>features a larger <\/span>8.8-inch LCD screen<\/b> with <\/span>navigation<\/b>)<\/span> controlled by a scroll wheel on the center console similar to BMW\u2019s iDrive. The <\/span>MINI Cooper S<\/b> also <\/span>features a dark gray headliner<\/b> and a <\/span>John Cooper Works (JCW) steering wheel<\/b> while the <\/span>Cooper S Wired Pack<\/b> features a center armrest and a <\/span>12-speaker Harmon Kardon HiFi <\/b>sound system.<\/span><\/p>\n

As standard, all variants feature <\/span>three driving modes<\/b> \u2013 GREEN, MID and SPORT mode.
