Many misplace it due to negligence, theft, or even because of unfortunate causes such as flood or fire.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So if you can&#8217;t find your car grant, don\u2019t panic &#8211;\u00a0 here are three ways you can replace it. &#8211;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>First, What is a Car Grant &amp; Why is it Important?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A car grant is a document that carries the registration of a car and is issued by the Road Transport Department (JPJ). Though the physical document will not be needed during the <span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><a style=\"color: #ff9900;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/item\/how-to-renew-road-tax-and-insurance\">renewal of road tax<\/a><\/span> or changing of vehicle ownership, you will need the grant if you are selling your car. Getting a New Car Grant at the JPJ Counter<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can get a copy of the original or produce a new car grant at any JPJ office near you for RM50. Here\u2019s how.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 1: Insert your MyKad and place your right thumb on the fingerprint scanner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 2: Select Vehicle Ownership Certificate (VOC).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 3: Review the relevant information displayed..<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 4: Enter your payment details to proceed to the payment page.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 5: You will be charged RM50 (for the original car grant) for each successful transaction.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Step 6: Select a receipt printout (if necessary)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b style=\"font-size: 1.5em; font-style: inherit;\">3.Getting a New Car Grant from the Bank<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This method is for those who have never gotten an original grant from the bank that you got your car loan from. You can request for the original car loan from your bank in accordance with the Hire Purchase Amendment Act 2010 which requires the bank to submit a VOC to the requestor when applied in writing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here is how you do it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Step 1:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Visit the bank that your car loan is under.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Step 2:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Complete the required forms.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Step 3:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Submit your identity card (MyKad) to the officer on duty.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Step 4<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: After the verification process (fingerprint scan), the officer on duty will hand you over the original car grant.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Step 5: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to get a copy of the grant for the insurance claims, all you need to do is make a quick call to the car loan\u2019s bank and once it is confirmed, a copy of the grant will be sent to you via email.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Make sure you keep your VOC safe with these tips!<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you have your new car grant, try to make sure you don\u2019t lose it again as although the VOC is accessible online, you will still need your car grant if you intend to sell off your car.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, here are some handy tips on keeping your car grant safe:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Keep it in a folder<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li>Make several copies to keep<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: 400;\">Label &amp; organize your car documents<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With that, we hope the process goes smoothly.
