The last two generations of Nissan Sentra have followed a simple formula: a spacious interior, a smooth ride, great gas mileage, and low prices. For many, this was certainly a winning formula. But the 2020 Nissan Sentra was exclusively designed to compete with Honda\u2019s latest Civic thanks to its new improvements and styles which overrides its previous models in so many ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s New for Nissan Sentra?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The 2020 Nissan Sentra received a total overhaul so that means new looks, new dimensions, new interior design and materials, new driving dynamics and new performance specs.<\/span> If you were considering a Sentra, this is the one you want. The new platform paired with multi-link rear suspension, and Nissan’s subtle brake-activated Active Ride Control leads to a car that’s much nicer to drive than the one it replaces. The interior design and material quality represent significant improvements over the old car. The cabin is also practical, with ample charge ports and cubbies.\u00a0 There are three trim levels available which are the Sentra S (base level), Sentra SV (mid-level) and Sentra SR (premium).<\/span><\/p>\n

Performance and Fuel Economy<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The new 2020 Nissan Sentra gets a new 2.0L four-cylinder engine that produces 149 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission choice is a CVT and has totally forgo the manual transmission gear. One difference that you will definitely notice is the slow pickup as it drags itself from 0 to 60 km\/h in 9.2 seconds, which is 1-2 seconds slower than its competitor. <\/span>EPA fuel economy estimates are 28-29\/37-39 mpg city\/highway, depending on the trim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Exterior<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The new Sentra is about 2 inches wider and 2 inches lower than its predecessor. The changes are instantly evident. Wider, lower vehicles look inherently sportier than taller, narrower ones, and Nissan took full advantage of these proportions. The headlights are low and slimmer compared to the older models and they stretch out towards the centre of the car, where the black and chrome grille reaches down almost to the ground. The grille is smaller, and it integrates more smoothly with the headlights.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 2020 Sentra\u2019s interior is an improvement from the previous version, with more inspired design and better materials that give it an altogether more upmarket and sportier feel than before. A lower driver\u2019s seat with more aggressive bolstering makes it more driver focused. We like the mix of materials on offer \u2014 which can be complemented by contrasting stitching and orange or charcoal accents \u2014 instead of vast, boring stretch plastic. There are cloth upholstery options, as well as a leatherette and even a tan leather option with quilted stitching. Heated seats and steering wheel are also available.<\/span><\/p>\n

A 7-inch touchscreen is standard equipment in the S trim, while the SV and SR have 8-inch units. This car still features buttons for the important audio and HVAC functions, and all come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. In addition to two standard USB ports (one front, one rear), the SV and SL trims gain a USB-C port as well. It still has analog gauges, with a digital information display in the centre of the instrument panel. It offers available adaptive cruise control and can be had with the ultra-helpful \u201cAround View\u201d 360-degree parking camera.<\/span><\/p>\n

Safety<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Just like all the other Nissan sedans, Nissan Sentra 2020 is made with Nissan Safety Shield 360, a suite of six driver-assistance features including blind-spot monitoring, and automated braking assistance. <\/span>The base model S comes with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and a rear-view camera are also standard. The SV gets adaptive cruise control, while the SR adds a surround-view parking system and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.<\/span><\/p>\n
