Bermaz Motor, the sole distributor for Mazda cars in Malaysia has launched the 2020 Mazda 2 facelift. Like before, the Mazda 2 is offered in a single variant for both sedan and hatchback bodystyles and comes as a fully imported model from Thailand<\/p>\n

Exterior and interior<\/strong><\/p>\n

The instantly noticeable change to the 2020 Mazda 2<\/a><\/span> is the new front grille design that unifies the look with the brand\u2019s seventh generation models like the Mazda 3 and Mazda CX-30. At the front and sides, changes to the LED headlamps now comes with a new design and daytime running lights, as well as new 16-inch rims. The badging and fonts are also updated to showcase the latest brand direction.<\/p>\n

On the inside, the cabin comes finished with a new blue gray trim that includes the leather seats. The seven-inch Mazda connect infotainment system with voice command offers more seamless smartphone connectivity and is now compatible as standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Carried over from before are the commander control unit, auxiliary input, Bluetooth, CD and Mp3 player, two USB-A ports and the option to activate the GPS navigation system within the unit via SD card for RM1,270.<\/p>\n

Mazda states that the improvements to the cabin comprises of new structured front seats that improve the driver\u2019s sense of balance<\/p>\n

The powerplant remains the same as before, through a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine developing 114 hp and 149 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed Skyactiv drive automatic transmission with manual shift mode. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 5.3-liters per 100 km.<\/p>\n

The list of passive safety features in the Mazda 2 include dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), dynamic stability control (DSC), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), emergency brake assist (EBA), traction control system (TCS), hill launch assist, emergency stop signal, and Isofix for the rear seats. Driving conveniences include rear parking sensors and a reverse camera with distance and guidelines.<\/p>\n

Compared to the original G-Vectoring Control (GVC) first available on the pre-facelift model, the 2020 Mazda 2 comes with GVC Plus instead. GVC became the world\u2019s first control system to vary engine torque in response to steering input. The result of this is to provide integrated control of lateral and longitudinal acceleration forces and optimize the vertical load on each wheel. The Mazda 2 sedan and hatchback is priced at RM103,670 on-the-road without insurance and comes in 10 shades \u2013 Snowflake white pearl, Ceramic metallic, Machine grey, Sonic silver, Jet black, Titanium flash, Polymetal grey, Eternal blue mica, Deep crystal blue and Soul red crystal. The latter most shade costs an additional RM500 to the retail price. Ownership includes a five-year or 100,000 km warranty and a five-year or 100,000 km free maintenance.<\/p>\n
