The automotive industry must therefore adapt accordingly. Now, Hyundai is using it to test Level 4 autonomous driving technologies on European roads. Different cars are capable of various levels of self-driving on a scale of 0-5:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Level 0<\/strong> \u2013 All major systems are controlled by humans.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level 1<\/strong> \u2013 Certain systems, for example cruise control or automatic breaking, can be controlled by the car.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level 2<\/strong> \u2013 At least two simultaneous automated functions such as acceleration and steering are offered by the vehicle. However, humans are required to ensure safe operation.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level 3<\/strong> \u2013 The car is able to manage safety functions under certain conditions, but the driver is expected to take over when alerted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Level 4<\/strong> \u2013 The car is fully autonomous in some driving scenarios, though not all. Intelligent traffic lights, for example, can communicate with autonomous cars. This has been accomplished by using the production car\u2019s Smart Cruise Control\u2019s forward-facing radar, blind-spot detection radars in the corners of the vehicle and Lane Keeping Assist camera, which are integrated with LiDAR technology.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15582 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/wp\/Autonomous-IONIQ-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/wp\/Autonomous-IONIQ-4.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/wp\/Autonomous-IONIQ-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/wp\/Autonomous-IONIQ-4-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hyundai is one of the few companies who have already started development of Level 4 autonomous driving in the C-segment. This move will strengthen the strategic partnership formed between the companies in 2018, under which Hyundai, Kia and Aurora have been collaborating on self-driving technologies on Hyundai\u2019s flagship fuel cell vehicle, Nexo.
