UMW Toyota Malaysia has officially launched the fifth-generation Toyota GR Supra (A90). For many, the Supra needs no introduction. The previous generation A80 has been for many years the halo car for enthusiasts and tuners and even has been in popular culture thanks to the film The Fast and The Furious. But the fifth-generation is here, and many are thrilled by its return.<\/p>\n

The new Supra is a collaborative agreement between BMW and Toyota, with the former very much being main structural platform that the Supra is based on. Underneath the hood, the Supra has a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight 6-cylinder petrol that outputs 335 hp and 500 Nm of torque from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm. From a standstill, the Supra will be able to sprint to 100 km\/h in just 4.3-seconds to a limited top speed of 250 km\/h.<\/p>\n

On the outside, the styling is based on Toyota\u2019s 2014 FT-1 Concept, with that distinctive DRL at the front and even a silhouette of the A80 Supra at the rear, but with a modern interpretation. The GR Supra sits on 19-inch twin-spoke alloys wrapped in Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, has an electronically controlled limited slip differential at the rear, and adaptive variable suspension.<\/p>\n

Inside, the Supra will be familiar with BMW owners. There\u2019s the Toyota Connect Infotainment 8.8-inch touchscreen unit with available input from the iDrive controller in the centre, head-up display, paddle shifters and dual-zone climate control.<\/p>\n

When it comes to safety, there\u2019s 7-Airbags, Vehicle Stability and Traction Control, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist as well as active preventive safety in Toyota\u2019s Safety suite. This includes Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor, Forward Collision and Rear Collision Warning, as well as Rear Cross Traffic Alert.<\/p>\n

The Supra will be priced from RM 568,000<\/strong> and will come in shades of Prominence Red, Lightning Yellow, White Metallic, Deep Blue Metallic, Silver Metallic, Black Metallic, Ice Grey Metallic and Matte Storm Grey Metallic. The latter two costs RM 5,000 and RM 12,000 more than the standard colours.<\/p>\n
