The dimensions of the new X7 is 5,151 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, 1,805 mm tall and the wheelbase is 3,105 mm. Because this is based on the brand\u2019s all-new X5, it is 229 mm longer, 60 mm taller and 130 mm longer in wheelbase than the X5. In terms of luggage capacity, the new X7 has 325-litres when all 7-seats are up, 750-litres when third row is down, and opens up to a whopping 2,210-litres when you\u2019re ready to move to a bigger house.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Made In The USA<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here are some facts that you probably didn\u2019t know. The X7 is manufactured in BMW\u2019s Spartanburg plant in Greer, South Carolina. The plant employs over 11,000 people and produces the X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 and outputs over 1,400 cars daily. This makes the Spartanburg plant BMW\u2019s number one production plant worldwide in terms of volume. To add in a little more info, the plant is also the fastest factory start-up in automotive history \u2013 with a record 23 months from site groundbreaking to first car produced. Opened in 1994, over 4-million vehicles have exited the plant since.<\/p>\n

It Has The Largest Kidney Grille Ever On A BMW<\/strong><\/p>\n

Together with the 7-series sedan, the new flagship 7\u2019s sport the largest kidney grilles in the brand\u2019s history. While there are no official measurements, the grilles measure an approximate 16-inches tall and 32-inches wide (small TV anyone?). The grilles are also active air units that open when intake is required and closes to improve aerodynamics and fuel consumption. One thing\u2019s for sure, we will get both figures and compare them.<\/p>\n

It Has Serious Power<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now comes the interesting performance figures. The launch variant of the X7 is a xDrive40i petrol that has a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine that outputs 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 5,200 rpm. Century sprint on this is 6.1-seconds from a standstill. But if you are feeling that you need something with more grunt, you can custom order the recently introduced M50i with the 4.4-litre V8 turbocharged petrol with 523 hp and 750 Nm of torque and a zero to hundred time of 4.5-seconds. All are mated to an 8-speed with power going to all wheels. Did we mention the weight of the X7 is from 2.3-tonnes?<\/p>\n

It Is Well Equipped<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re in the driver or passenger seats, there\u2019s enough to assist and entertain. For the former, there\u2019s Parking Assistant Plus with automatic maneuvering in and out of parallel parking spaces, along with Reversing Assistant to assist in moving out of a tight parking space. If you have not checked out BMW\u2019s Surround view camera, the X7 comes with it too. Separately, the features in the Driving Assistant Professional are comprehensive with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Warning and front collision warning with brake intervention. The list goes on with steering and lane control assistant, front and rear cross traffic warning and rear collision prevention. There\u2019s Emergency Stop Assistant, Evasion Aid and Crossroads warning with city braking function. Head-up Display is included as well.<\/p>\n

The X7 locally comes with the Connected Package Professional where owners can benefit from Remote Services, Concierge Services and Apple CarPlay. Like the new generation cars, there\u2019s the Digital Key that works with select Android smartphones.<\/p>\n

Rear passengers will have a great time with the addition of the Rear-seat Entertainment Professional that adds on two 10.2-inch touch screen monitors for the second-row occupants. As for sound, there\u2019s a 16 speaker surround sound set-up by Harman Kardon.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s BMW\u2019s Flagship SUV<\/strong><\/p>\n

Premium and convenience comes with every BMW, but even more so with their flagship cars. The X7 variant introduced locally is the xDrive40i Design Pure Excellence spec that comes with the Panorama glass room Sky Lounge, Vernasca leather upholstery and \u2018Fineline Stripe\u2019 brown high-gloss fine-wood trim. Door are soft-close, all seats are electrically driven and the ride comes with 2-axle air suspension with Executive Drive Pro. Air conditioning is a 5-zone control unit, and to top things off, the centre console gear shifter comes with the \u201cCrafted Clarity\u201d handmade diamond-cut glass element.<\/p>\n

BMW\u2019s first-ever X7 xDrive40i Pure Excellence is priced at RM 888,800<\/strong> and comes in colours of Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Artic Grey, Sophisto Grey, Phytonic Blue, Terra Brown and Vermont Bronze with interior options in Black, Coffee and Cognac Leather Vernasca complete with Black dashboard or Canberra Beige Leather Vernasca and Mokka dashboard. The X7 can be viewed at all BMW dealerships nationwide from September 2019 onwards. Interested customers can pre-book the X7 can do so at BMW\u2019s Be The First website<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

But BMW also launched the new 740Le xDrive Pure Excellence. This is the facelift for the current generation G12 7-Series. Here are the details.<\/p>\n

Unlike standard facelifts that sees differences in lights and bumpers, the new 7-series looks much bolder than before. At the front the large kidney grille (with Active Air grille) is 40% larger than before and is complemented by the also larger 95 mm diameter logo. The front lamp units are slim and come with Laser lights. What has been omitted is the fog lights on the front apron. In place is the large air guides, directing air to the brakes. As for the rear, the new LED taillights design follows the new generation vehicles and are 35 mm slimmer and joined by a new wide light strip.<\/p>\n

Power<\/strong><\/p>\n

Upgraded from the 2.0-litre unit is a new 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder petrol with 286 hp and 450 Nm of torque from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. The accompanying electric motor then has 113 hp and 265 Nm from 0 to 2,700 rpm. Together the output is 394 hp and 600 Nm. The system is mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission and drive going to the all-wheel xDrive. From standstill to a hundred, it takes 5.1-seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 2.8-litres per 100 km with CO2 emissions at 65 g\/km. Pure electric drive range is stated as 46 km.<\/p>\n

Interior<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cabin needs to introduction here. It retains the same luxury and comfort as before but with added technology to keep up with the fleet. The trim is a Poplar Grain Grey fine wood and is complemented by the Alcantara headliner and Nappa leather upholstery. There\u2019s a Panoramic glass roof Sky Lounge here as well. What BMW has detailed is the improved interior insulation thanks to the improved soundproofing elements in the B-pillar. This minimises tyre and wind noise entering the cabin. Of course the Entertainment experience is just as good with the 16-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and for the rear passengers like the X7, two 10-inch touch screen monitors and operation via 7-inch tablet via Touch Command.<\/p>\n

Technology and Safety<\/strong><\/p>\n

Live Cockpit Professional is now a full 12.3-inch display for the instrument cluster joined with the central 10.25-inch Control Display at the centre dashboard which can be input either through touch, voice, gesture or the iDrive controller. Connected Package Professional here offers Remote and Concierge Services, Apple CarPlay and Intelligent Functions.<\/p>\n

Driver Assistant Professional comes with Active cruise control with stop and go function, Lane Departure and Lane Change Warning, Front Collision Warning with brake intervention, Crossing Traffic Warning front and rear, Crossroads warning with city braking function and more. BMW hasn\u2019t forgot about their Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant as well. So, no more trouble getting out of tight parking spaces.<\/p>\n

Price and ownership<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 740Le xDrive is priced at RM 594,800<\/strong> on-the-road without insurance and will come in Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Bernina Grey and Imperial Blue paired to either Black or Cognac Nappa leather upholstery.<\/p>\n
