If you have always wanted to get the built-in toll readers seen in vehicle\u2019s like the Perodua Myvi, Aruz and Toyota Rush, the day has arrived. Lokatech Engineering together with Efkon, the Austrian technology provider of Malaysia\u2019s nationwide infra-red electronic toll collection system, has launched the first built-in toll reader for the aftermarket. This launch comes about nine months since the introduction of the portable MaxTag toll reader which has been exceeding sale expectations.<\/p>\n

The LokaTag built-in toll reader offers an alternative to the portable MaxTag and is designed to be integrated with the vehicle with direct connection to the vehicle\u2019s battery. Just like the ones seen in the Myvi and Aruz, there\u2019s a back-lit display on the unit that also has card error and low credit alerts.<\/p>\n

Priced at RM499, customers can purchase LokaTag through the official LokaTag online store in Shopee Malaysia<\/a><\/span> where there\u2019s a free on-site installation for customers in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor, along with a 0% Easy Payment Plan for just an extra RM1. Customers outside these regions can install their LokaTag for free at selected authorised dealers.<\/p>\n

\u201cMarket response to the portable MaxTag has ben excellent with average monthly sales of about 12,000 units. As for our built-in toll readers, we currently have five major car brands featuring our customized products with more coming on board soon. The combined total monthly sales of the portable and built-in units are about 25,000 units,\u201d said Helmuth Blasch, Director of Efkon Asia.<\/p>\n

Blasch also added that Efkon is investing in research and development to enhance the features of the infra-red electronic toll readers, including equipping them with Bluetooth connectivity and voice alert capabilities in the future. Bluetooth will enable users to interact with the toll reader units through smartphones and car media systems.<\/p>\n
