Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Malaysia (Bosch AA) has launched \u2018Drive for Life\u2019, a car and road safety campaign to raise awareness on the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and the use of quality car parts.<\/p>\n

Officiated by Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport and Hannah Yeoh, Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, the campaign is meant to inform drivers on the basics and importance of having essential knowledge in car maintenance and its impact on passengers, car and road safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt Bosch, we strive towards a vision of accident-free roads and the campaign complements the Ministry of Transport\u2019s aim to reduce road accidents,\u201d said Marcio Coelho, Director of Sales and Marketing Services of Bosch Automotive Aftermarket for Asia Pacific Southeast.<\/p>\n

Anthony Loke, Minister of Transport added \u201cIn 2017, 533,875 road accidents that led to 6,740 casualties were reported. Road safety is one of the government\u2019s main agenda and reducing road accidents is a key objective of ours. We are very happy to see efforts from Bosch Automotive Aftermarket and Petron to promote car and road safety and will wholeheartedly support their initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Drive for Life\u2019 will be a three-year long campaign through Bosch\u2019s plan to Educate, Engage and Empower. In Educate, some of the activities will include a series of workshops to educate drivers and drivers-to-be on basic car maintenance. This includes knowing to keep the schedule for car services, and taking note of sounds and smells while driving, car owners can greatly increase reliability, longevity and performance of their vehicles.<\/p>\n

Surveys and statistics are alarming. From one done in 2018, it found that 70 per cent of car breakdowns are caused by battery malfunction, with less than 50 per cent of drivers and only one per cent of women knowing how to troubleshoot their car during a breakdown. With the Engage segment, Bosch is collaborating with Petron for a range of inspection services prior to the upcoming \u2018balik kampung\u2019 journeys on the 3rd<\/sup> and 4th<\/sup> week of May 2019 at select Petron stations (look below). The inspection will involve a 5-minute 25-point check on battery condition, engine oil, fluid levels, tyre thread and brake pad thickness.<\/p>\n

For the Empower segment, the campaign will have an initiative to engender the idea that car maintenance isn\u2019t just a man\u2019s domain but one that is necessary to empower and educate women to take the lead on car maintenance and ownership through #BoschEmpowersWomen.<\/p>\n
